I need to replace my water pump as it has corroded and is no longer "pumpin'".I was wondering whether the generic ones are just as good as the originals and does any one know rough prices on the two, and what if any are the differences?

    Thanks

NOT worth compromising on water pumps

do a search on here and twinturbo.net and you'll find lots of bad experiences with non genuine water pumps.

False economy if you then have to replace a faulty generic one with an original anyway not to mention labour costs and potential engine overheating damage IMHO.

Also genuine thermostat is the way to go too.

www.ttzed.com or uas.com.au are good sources of local genuine parts...

The generic pumps are crap. They use shitty cast impellers instead of the pressed steal ones in the genuine unit. The cast units break up under heavy load, and then the unbalanced pump destroys it's bearings.
