Does a series 2 ptu get hot?

    I'm looking at installing a series 2 ptu but wish to also relocate it near the battery just to make things a bit neater. Can anyone think of any problems in doing this?

    Does the series 2 ptu heat up and require good ventilation?
    Is there any risks that anyone can think of by running the PTU and wiring along side the battery?

    Dont think it gets overly hot. Why near the battery though? Like most people who relocate it, I have mine under the Nose panel. If you unwrap the wiring there is enough to reach that position with no problems. I also cut off the series 2 plugs and soldered the wires to get rid of the whole series 1 to series 2 conversion harness.

    I'll take a look into placing it under the nose panel

    I stared at the enginge bay for several minutes and thought locating it to the fender wall along side the battery would be a very neat option. I'll take a look into the nose panel area though as well.

    ive relocated mine 2 the ecu compartment, i personally wouldnt put it under the battery compartment as its quite close to the passenger side turbo and if your battery explodes u can kiss your ptu goodbye. also the series 2 doesnt come with a heatshield so it shouldnt need airflow

    Under the nose panel

    Is a great unobtrusive spot for it. The only reason you might want to put it in the engine bay is if you were going to chrome it and show it off! (Baron, how about it? ;) )
