    Hey all,
anyone had any experiences with dodgy fuel and their zeds recently? i think i just copped a really really bad batch and prob need to replace the filter and/or pump. its strange because i always fill up from exactly the same servo at exactly the same pump since she arrived off the boat mid last year and ive never had a problem before...

just how bad can bad fuel affect the zeds? what are the norm symptoms as well?

I had a 'lash cap' fall off

I put some really old fuel from the shed into the 280ZX. Next day, starting there was this loud knocking from the head. A shim that sits on top of the valve stem had fallen out. Put it back, and it happened again next day. Took it down to the engine shopped and checked everything out. Nothing wrong.
Drained the rest of the fuel, put fresh fuel in, and it never happened again.

I believe the bad fuel caused the valve to stick, not closing properly after sitting overnight. The shim that sits in a 'bucket' then just popped out

Use the best fuel you can get.

    i use BP ultimate too

ive never used anything in her but BP ultimate because im well aware its the best. but apparently i filled up right before the station filled their tanks up so i must have gotten all the crap in my system. its just feeling gutless when maintaining revs and the exhaust has a very strange note so im keeping an eye on my fuel system in case something else has gone cactus.
