hi, did a search but cant find whether or not i actually need an infill panel if i dont want the third brake light. If i take off the spoiler is it possible to just weld up the holes/paint and be on my merry way or is there not already an infill panel. I have a adm version if that matters? thanks
nah thers a big gap with big holes.....u would hav to make somthing to fill it in....like some memebers hav made a fiberglass panal and put it in place
tru but howmeny cops would no that :S infact i garantee no cop would know that some of the 300's didnt come without them not exacly thers a few zeds i hav seen with filld in and shaved hatch's and looks sweet as... but i think looks best on black zeds coz of the way the lights are
can i see pics of infill and no infill.. im not quite sure about the difference ( like what the final result is) im sure no infill will still pass..
Worth noting is that its absolutely impossible to screw up the 3rd brake light... but i've seen several fibreglass ones that look shocking...
"Place your hands on your head and stand away from the car!" It should be obvious to anyone with an ounce of styling knowledge, that the in-fill panel completes the styling concept of the entire rear lighting design(given that it comprises about 25% of the total blacked-out light panel on the rear of the car).:zlove:
Looks crap without the infill panel I've just bought my 300ZX and did not notice that the infill had been "filled" in. I think it looks like incomplete without the proper infill panel. As soon as I get the car repainted I'll order an infill panel and make it look decent. I'll try to get a photo of it and from what I've read I'll post a photo on a web hosting site and add the link...It might just take me a day or 3 i'm pretty busy doing my teaching lesson plans. On the legality... Yes it is illegal, however, My car passed it's roadworthy (at the Dept of transport depot !! ). The tester simply did not know about the 3rd light as he would need to be conversant with 1000's of cars and the extra detail would be a mountain of paperwork to read and learn). So my "missing" 3rd light went under the radar. Looking over the reams of paper work and boxes with pass or fail ticks the inspector had to fill out, there was no mention of 3rd tail light. Just lots of stuff about the amount of play in steering, suspension bushes ect ect. The only mention of lights to pass/fail were the typical stuff... Indicators, low/high beam, number plates that sort of stuff. However, I may just have been the lucky bugger who got away with it this time ???? Back to the original question.... I think the car (my car at least) looks incomplete with the 3rd light section filled in.... and who ever did mine, did a pretty decent job... it still looks like it's not quite the real deal
on my old car, I took out the third brake light and surrounds (it was a parcel shelf one, not a zed) to paint it. Went on a cruise that night and left the brake light home to dry and it was one of the things picked on the defect I ended up receiving. Cops aren't retards mate, they don't just give them a badge and say "Go on, do your best!!" - but gauging by your literacy you probably didn't know that.
your ounce is not an ounce, is a ton if i have to choose stock spoiler+3rd brake light or brazilian +infill light color zed go for former dark zed go for latter
Not sure what that is supposed to mean. Please explain! Later model Z32's(fitted with higher rear spoiler) had the in-fill panel as stock(and it has a third Brake Light strip). Earlier models with stock spoiler, still carry on the "in-fill" theme by having a black strip with Fairlady Z and/or Twin Turbo badges thereon, so clearly the designers/builders of the car intended it as part of the overall styling theme.
