    Hey guys,

Had a search cant cant find the answer im after :(

    I have a 91 manual TT import

Just replaced all the fluids except the diff. The castrol and Nulon books at my local supercheap auto reccomend an 80 weight differential oil. But it doesnt mention LSD. I thought that the 300zx's were LSD from the factory. Not that ive tested it personally.

Can someone please give a straight answer on what the best oil to put in the diff will be?

They are LSD from the factory... Go with the info listed in the supercheap Nulon/Castrol books. Nulon stuff isnt too bad... Best oils are Royal Purple and Redline so i've been told...

Doesn't have to be a LSD specific oil either. It's a sealed viscous unit, so you are only lubricating the actual gears.

Good thread. Nice to know this.

I know the diffs have a reputation for being tough but how reliable are the sealed viscous units? Are the seals known to leak?

Nope, but once they are overheated they aren't much chop. It's the weakest part of the diff, a few people have had the viscous unit fail at the drags which makes the car undrivable.

    Buy 2 litres.....

because it's supposed to take 1.5 litres, but you keep filling until it overflows.
