Hi all Having a couple issues maintaining injector contact, have done all the usual stuff brought up by "search" but just wanted to ask one last thing - A couple of posts mentioned applying 'dielectric grease' to the spades before putting them back. I was wondering 1) is this stuff actually conductive (will it help maintain connection), or is it more aimed at preventing corrosion? 2) what brand names is it sold under? Can I pick it up at supercheap or autobarn something? Probably dumb questions, I know, but none of my previous automotive experience has prepared me for some of the issues the zed has thrown up. Andrew
Permatex It is a non conductive anti corrosive heat dissipating grease. Every electrical connector I take apart for any reason gets a shot of it. I got mine at Autobarn. Don?t ask for dielectric grease or you will get the typical 1000 yard stare. Ask for "tune up grease". It's full name is Permatex Dielectric Tune Up Grease. Read the small print cautions on the back. Apparently it could possibly cause cancer or sterility (not that the latter would be a problem for me). Anyway, just to be safe, always wear a condom when using it
You should post more often Barry, always a good read. that ones a classic. Read the small print cautions on the back. Apparently it could possibly cause cancer or sterility (not that the latter would be a problem for me). Anyway, just to be safe, always wear a condom when using it
An oxymoron? If sterile why wear a condom? Dielectric grease also known as silicon grease:- Dielectric (PERMATEX 79AL Tune-up grease) is an effective barrier to moisture and protects electrical connections, ignition parts and wiring from moisture, salt, dirt and corrosion.
