To mourn thy ZX that belonged to bigchoofa, for thou ZX has committed suicide and thus, killed thyself in the hopes for more attention and a possible resurrection Yes, the heart of my Z has decided to give in at just shy of 150,000km's... from what i can gather after getting it to Amec after... 4 HOURS of waiting for the f*cking tow truck to show up... the oil pump failed and thus one of the pistons is hitting on the head, creating a horrible knocking noise and then suddenly died just before i got to the iswich motorway... So, the solution? New engine Problem? No money... Solution to this problem? Bank loan/credit card So yes, i will be a wannabe Z driver and will possibly have to pinch my mums F6 Typhoon for any future cruise days that might arise... then get my arse kicked when i get home, or possibly have the cops called on me... And i figure that after i get it fixed, i will be selling up this pride and joy of mine... for a TT
haha, im just reciting what i think i heard from the amec boys... whatever it was, it sure as hell wasnt good... yes, im hoping to get it sorted quickly as well... i may have to invest in a cheap ride for the time being, i really can't go without a car
only 150 thou , shite !! thought any v6 would be good for double that at least , i have a V6 holden that has done over 300 thou ks and is still as good as new and another V6 holden that has done 230 thou and not missed a beat . My Z has only done 132 thou which i thought was stuff all but now im worried. Perhaps they dont make nissan as strong as they make common whores ? . .
i think it might come down to the way it was driven. i have no idea how hard it was driven before i aquired her, and i only put 40,000 on the clock. i know that it did require some work as soon as i got it, being a new clutch and some work on the internals and injectors, and also that the diff was acting up. i can pretty much put this down as the person/people before me flogging it like there's no tomorrow, probably being drifting... so don't fret my friend
That sucks. At least you have a decent second car to roll around in I'm stuck with parentals excel / accent. Decisions decisions.
Whilst this is the 1st oil pump failure I've seen on the forum....... Its the 4th I've heard of in the last month ! Of the other 3, one spun the bearings, and the other 2 where caught before any damage was done ( oil pressure drop noticed @ idle so instanty shut down ). all 3 had stuffed pumps, all 3 had 180,000K's or there abouts, all 3 were autos, The one with the spun bearings was a non turbo whilst the other 2 were TT. Might put down an "oil pump replacement" on my to do list for next winter
Mine hasnt been wound back, but i think my car was used for some sort of motorsport in Japan and attempted to be reverted to stock, turbos have been replaced at some stage prior to 100,000 on the clock
nissan failing at 150xxx... never heard of that before unless driven off the clappers. nissan motors are generally strong, esp those found in good cars. hope you sort it out mate, oil pump failure wouldn't let the piston to touch a valve, unless the chain tensioner (im not sure if vg is oil pressure orientated) lost it's tension under no pressure and the valve train skipped some teeth and boom. But i'd say that's unlikely. If it's bearings you might get out of it cheap...
Ohh Noooo!!! Very sad to hear Choofa! At least it is in good hands now. hope you get it up again soon. I don't want to be the only Zed driver in Greenmount!
