Damn sorry I missed this one..... any possibility of getting a contact name etc? I need one for the Zed and a couple of smaller ones for the new Jeep. Maybe I'll just grab a couple of cheap ones off ebay and see how they perform
sorry Kalus this was stictly a once off from Davies Criag... I might be able to organize another 10+ group buy, but davies craig will not sell a single fan at this price...
Mine arrived yesterday thanks Tom For those of you With Turbo timers--- I'm going to hook mine up so that it stays on with the turbo timer, to do this all you have to do is have the feed voltage from the turbo timer soldered in after the thermo swich (the green wire on wiring diagram number 2 in the little booklet that comes with the fan) That way when the timer is on you can walk away knowing the fan will be on for the whole time:thumbsup: For the thermo trigger I am going to use a switch I bought and built from Jaycar. It taps into the temp sender wire and triggers at a pre determined voltage to close the circuit. The good thing about this switch is that it cuts out at another pre determined voltage eg, I can have the fan cut in at 85 degrees but not cut out until 80 degrees:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Got mine today thanks Tom! Thanks heaps for doingall the leg work on this one, well done! Cheers Geoff
Re:Very interested in the Jaycar kit yeah, sorry was going to post the kit number but I couldn't find where I put the kit. It is "KC5377: KIT - Voltage switch" it's also in the magazine "Silicon Chip High Performance Electronic Projects for cars" Chapter 12 It's a great little kit, its uses are only limited to your imagination, I want to buy another so I can hook up some water sprays for my intercoolers. By tapping into the TPS i can make it so it will trigger the sprays at a pre determined Throttle position (Pre determined Voltage) The kit can be used to trigger on a dropping voltage OR a rising voltage:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Re:Very interested in the Jaycar kit i'm in the design stage of a controller for the EWP and Thermo Fan... Once i make a working version, i'll post up some info just incase there is some interest... It comprises of an LCD screen with warning and beeping LED. Acts as a TWD and also tells you if your EWP and/or FAN is on and at what voltage/percentage
I got a little carried away on thursday when i went to fit my fan I ended up removing the plenum and removing my EGR and doing the water hose bypass before fitting the fan....:wacko::wacko:
will be interested to see how well these work I have always had trouble keeping my Z cool, My fan is hooked up now (with a big Alloy Rad from TTZ) If I hold the revs at about 3000rpm the temp just climbs until the factory fan cuts in. This fan seems to do a better job than the belt driven one, but I don't know why my car is running so hot. when i drive up the freeway the temp starts to climb (on my autometer gauge, obviously the 1 on the dash doesn't move) but when i come back down the hill it cools right dowm. I'm gonna try putting in a new thermostat coz it may be opening too early.
