DatNats track day at Wakefield Park......

Today the Datsun Car Club held a track day at Wakefield Park Raceway.
I'm glad to say that the Zeds were well represented; JT, Fleet, Wizard and myself. :thumbsup:
What a motley crew. :LOL:
Fleet who travelled down from Qld for this event, stole the show. With his rebuilt, powerful 377rwkw silver zed, blew away the field with a blistering, low 1:10's. Thats real quick around this tight little circuit.
JT wasn't far behind, flashing past the post with a mid 1:11,
Wizard's time was also sharp with a mid 1:14's
and I took down the NA for a 1:16.523.
Our times were all personal bests.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
There were stacks of 1600 Datos' of various degrees of performance and Wizards young bloke with his 180sx drift mobile. A top day had by almost all, Wizard droped a little oil and had to park her a little early, maybe just a loose hose.
To finish of the weeks events, is a cruise tomorrow and a dyno day Sunday.

Great stuff Wayne! If we had cushy jobs we'd have been there too!

Fleet's time is impressive, the closest to the ZLOT car time I'm aware of anyway. Great stuff !!!

Wayne think your selling Fleet short, think he got into the 1.09's and JT into the 10's
I Made the mistake of putting some R-comps on the back and stockies on the front, so was fighting understeer for most of the time, but still happy to improve times.

Improving on your PB is what it is all about (apart from just having fun):thumbsup:. I hope Ron's car is only a loose hose. I hate hearing stories of grief involving Zeds and tracks.

yeah I am pretty sure a sub 60 sprint time will be done next week at QR

I had an absolute blast, that machine of mine simply hammers now and does exactly what I tell it to do in the corners, I couldnt be happier!

just to give you something to aim for, the good drivers of the Evo, WRX and the Porsche GT3 on the Weekday track day go around the Sprint Track in 58.00. The hot GTR goes around in 56.00. Based on your previous times you could be right on the 58 times now. Give a few people a surprise. Go for it.

Sorry to hear mate, I hope your issues are simple to mend. I'm taking my new zed, with carbon fibre bonnet, looks a little like Shifters, except for about 100kw heheh.

Problems solved

Seems the transmission oil cooler i have is to small and not up to the job.
Tranny has heated up and oil has flowed from the breather on top of the box onto the exhaust pipes, hence the smoke.
I then compounded things by over filling the tranny ( damm hard to see that transmax z on the dipstick)
so that every time i started to get into it more oil would flow onto the exhaust.:wacko:
Who's using external coolers and what size, any recommendations?
