diagnosis has so far included (in this order)

    1. boost leak test (of which i have a major but cant seem to work out with what) holds 3psi.... but i can fix that later

    2. load test, each coil pack taken off, idle droped significantly. for all except the 1 down from cyc 6... dont know what one it is called but not the one i usually have a problem with..... used to always be 6 dropping but i have fixed that - loose connection and bolt missing from coilpack bracket.

3.changed coilpack to a cyc that worked. no change.

    4. inspected sparkplug, black but fine, changed less that 5000kms ago.

    5. cut open insulation to inspect possible cut wire. none.

    6. inspected coilpack plug, cleaned + tightening metal grip...

    7. wiggled PTU conections (series 1) 98000kms on the clock. it is loose and if i half remove car starts to die (as thought) but no change. has never been a problem before. before you jump in a say change it to a series 2 im not fixing what isnt broken, id rather find out for sure its broken.

    bit of background info..

car is manual, TT. the idle does not change when coilpack connector removed on suspect cyc..but i onlt tested cycs 1 - 5 i missed out 6 because i thought i found the problem. is it worst tsting 6 i wouldnt have throught so...

I dont have a spare PTU to test.

What i want to know is where to go from here? how can i check connectivity between ptu and ecu and coilpack... i want to find out where the weak link is of course but i have limited electrical knowledge.

    sooo :help:

Compression test? you may have a dead cyclinder there Zac. Checked out the injectors?
The problem may not be electrical

compression test was done last week

92 on cyc 6 and 130s on others...

i didnt check the injector pulses but the conectors (injector) where changed last week too.

coilpack connectors have seen better days but theres no corrosion and they all sit in by themselves.

i checked 6 but didnt want to because all have had zip ties on them.

i didnt complete the diagnosis on cyc 6, will do tomorrow.

my bet is on ptu becuase when i check mine with martins zed his wouldnt start, it was very touchy.

youd think that but it used to run fine once warm.

this was done 1 week ago and dont think i have totally lost the cyl (cheers) since then.

It was working perfectly saturday morning and i drove to northside and back that arvo no problems.

i clutch started it that night... which is where i think it might have gone pear shape, it was pretty rough on the way home and i didnt let it warm up like i usually do.

hey Zac, when your car was in here, there appeared to be a wiring issue with your injector wiring on no 5. we got it running on 6 again by wiggling the wiring around, sounds like its lost 5 again.

bring it in and we will strip the wiring back and re-do the wiring at no charge.
