    Update - Shipping

I am just waiting to get these back from the motor trimmer - he has a large project due this Friday, and will not have enough time to do these before this weekend, which is fair considering how much it's costing to have these covered (the first trimmer I used charged $90 per set on my very first sets). I'm planning to be able to mail these out next Wednesday February 6th, if I receive them back on Tuesday (which is the latest he's said I'll get them back). I'm really sorry for the delay, but to get the best price possible on trimming, it's unavoidable.

I'll be sending out PM's to everyone as their set is mailed, so everyone knows when it's all happening. I need to chase some people up for addresses (so to anyone reading, if you receive a PM asking for you details, reply ASAP or it may affect the delivery date of your package!).

    Cheers,
    Pete.

    Hey,

I've got these back and I am packing them up this weekend - we should be able to get the first out at the start of the week and people should start receiving them from about Thursday. I'll let each buyer know as their pods are shipped out, that way if it feels like it's taking too long, we can start asking questions at the post offices at either end. Sorry about the delay - I don't have home internet access. If anyone needs to contact me urgently, my number is 0423487790.

    Cheers,
    Pete.

    Quick Guide

    Hey guys,

Pete posted a quick how-to in his original post here Clicky

He's currently still in bed - a dose of bronchitis had him laid up all last week, and has stretched in to this week, so we'll hopefully have a nice new installation guide (including trim removal) posted up in this thread before the weekend. He wanted to include a printed version, but time got the better of us.

He's also really happy that everyone's happy with the pods, but if anyone has any comments or suggestions (constructive), feel free to let us know!

And if at any point, you get lost, or need any help - 0423487790. He's night shift, so call in the evenings, but if you get lost, don't wing it, just in case.

By the way, I'm Erin, co-pilot/chief map misleader/minister of finances. I sometimes post on his behalf when he's not near a computer/dying.

Door trim removal & Speaker pod installation guide

Door trim removal & Speaker pod installation guide

    Tools required:

*2 and 3 mm phillips screwdriver
    *blade screw driver
*14 mm and 10 mm socket or ring spanner
    Tools recomended
    *Power/Cordless drill
    *2mm drill bit

    Parts required
*6 18mm Trim screws available at most auto stores (1/2" should work fine)
*6 Washers to suit trim screws used
*Masking tape (Not required but helpfull)
*8 Speaker install screws available at most auto stores (Included in most speaker sets)

    Parts recomended
*8 Speed nuts to suit speaker install screws available at most auto stores (included in most speaker sets)

    Time required: 2 - 2.5 hours

    * On the outside of the pillar is a small plastic cover . You'll need to have the window down about 6 inches to get to it. Inside the cover is a screw. Be careful not to drop it inside the pillar.
    * Next remove the cover over the seat belt anchor and remove the bolts, both top and bottom. The trim on the inside of the pillar can be removed.
    * Remove the screws on the inside edge of the door trim, the pillar, and the outside edge of the trim.
    * There are two screws in the handgrip well. Remove these and lift out the window switches. Disconnect the wires. There is another screw to remove under switches.
    * Remove the cover from around the door release handle. Its held in with clips so gentle lever it out, pulling the handle out to allow the cover to slide over it.
    * Unclip the trim. There are 4 clips across the bottom and one on the outside top.
    * Lift the door trim off the door.

    Remove the speaker enclosure
    [IMG]
    * Disconnect the speaker wires.
    * Remove the 4 screws and lift out the speaker enclosure.

Now it's time to install the speaker pod
These pictures were taken with my plugs, so there are no holes cut in them - obviously yours will have holes cut already.

*These are the type of screws that I use - 18mm upholstering screws. They're also typically used for speaker installation.

*Place your speaker pod in the position you are happy with and use masking tape to hold in it in place & turn over the trim.

*Drill holes where advised . I would suggest not straying too far from suggested (see pic).
*Now Screw through the trim, into the pod be carefull not to drill into the fiberglass, You can use washers as well when fixing the speaker pod to the trim but I've found screws alone are adequate.

*When installing your speakers mark the mounting holes with a permanent marker.
*Now remove the speaker out of harms way and pre drill your mounting holes.

*Reinstall the speaker now and use your speaker mounting screws and speed nuts to ensure a strong installation as per the diagram

*Any of the above speed nuts will work fine including U speed nuts

*repeat all of the above steps with the remaining door and then reinstall trims

*DONT Forget to re-conect the speaker wiring:D

If you still need help with the install you can PM me or contact me on 0423487790

    Cheers
    Pete

    Yeah i have mine installed

I had to cut the hole bigger to fit my speakers.
With a litle bit of work these would even fit 7" speakers, so im happy. Its good how it overlaps the join in the door so you cant see it.
