Agreed, didn't consider the traffic. All those pictures of the empty road made me forget. 9:30 at night I think, so plenty of traffic around at that time. Now I think about it there was a lot of traffic that went past directly after he hit the wall.

Yes, killed his teenage brother :(

I thought about that tooo when I saw it. I have had the throttle lock up on me before but luckily it wasnt at the most critical time.

The location is approx 6 parramatta rd summer hill ( someone might be able to post a google photo ) cross off dover st, there have been a few bad crashes along there. He was heading west bound ( away from sydney).
Along this strech you come down a long hill 500m back then up a slight rise then down under the rail overpass around the right hand sweeper.
The surface is concrete and is uneven ( causes my truck rear to bounce a little when empty ) but easly rounded at the speeds metioned.
60km zone but as with most sydney drivers would be 80 to keep up with flow.
Something as simple as a worn hicas bush or piviot can cause a unexpected rear steer under power or on lift off causing the rear to step out.

To me it looks like he has rounded the righthander at speed (over 100) over the rise and the backend has come around, he over corrected and sent it over the gutter and into the carwash .
    Pure and simple driver error.

Yes you heard correctly. It's a load of f'ing rubbish.

AFAIK you can go 2" above the standard rim size, so 18's are not defectable.

Haha I started yelling at the TV at that point in the show :p

Thats why you print these out and stick one in place of the original placard...

so they never figured our wat the cause was? i taped it with iq but the times in the foxtel guide and free tv are always out of sync which usuallly means cutting the end off, anyway i think they should have had a closer look at the environment, it is a fairly easy corner and could be taken at speeds but there have been times were my cars have felt "uneasy" going around it like all of a sudden itll feel like its just being pulled to the left sorta thing.

Also isnt the limit along that part of the road 70km not 60km??

It was the rise and the end of the corner that caused the backend to get really light and hence come around, this guy was flying.
Christ he hit the wall at 60 and he was completley sidways

i was thinking the same thing as graham. unless he went foot to the floor into the wall the throttles should have snapped shut when he started braking. or was something inside the car holding the accelerator down? did anyone see if it was an auto or manual?

Unfortunately, driver error, hmmm speed i guess - he wouldve been doing over 100 going thru there. He is going to have to live with that for the rest of his life, and taking his brothers life..... whoah - cant imagine the pain he must be going thru. Its sad to say but i wouldnt be surprised if he took his own life...

Just print one of those out and stick it where the old one was, or buy one from ttzed, like 10 bux or something

The investigater ruled out stuck throttles, it was the stoved in side holding the throttle partly open, all that crumpled metal was pushing the accel pedal down slightly.
so u can rule out the stuck throttle theory :zlove:

It could be the throttle bodies sticking. If these pics are the location, that isn't much of a hill. I'm glad he didn't get jail, just the good behaviour bond and all. Honestly, I don't think any punishment they give him would be worse than what he must feel every day. Really sad, can't imagine killing my bro like that :(

No, he just took off the throttle cable cover and he said "oh, there, it's back to normal now". IMO, that could have been the cover holding it open.

When you look at the road carefully you can see the rise in the road just as youre coming out of the overpass. Therefore at the speed he was doing which i'm sure we know it wasnt 70, his arse wouldve slipped out and with him trying to overcorrect it caused him to end up where he did.

horrible thing 2 happen. i cant help but think that this could be another hicas failure that sent him into the wall. considering there were no skids (drifto marks)

what a event 2 live with. its amazing that the driver could survive. even tho he was on the side that impacted the final wall.

its a reminder how precious life is... take it easy on the roads ppl :(

Yeah those pictures are a bit deceptive, it probably doesnt' help that parra rd has an absolutely abysmal road surface, one of the worst roads in Sydney imo...
