firstly, what is a left hand rack end. the guy said there is movement in the ball joint in the rack end. i think he said it is the bit that goes from the steering colum to the tyre rod, but im not quite sure (im not too good with steering & suspension stuff)
anyway if any of you guys can understand the part that im trying to explain, do you know where i might be able to get a new one from? it would be much appreaciated because my rego runs out next week:eek:
    regards
    dave

You can get the parts from NISSAN, or you can try any of the Steering & Suspension workshops near you.
There is a replaceable nylon/plastic, cup-shaped bush in either end of the Steering Rack, into which the ball end of the tie-rod locates. That will almost certainly be the part that is worn. Have a look at the Workshop Manual in the Tech Section of this forum. You will find this item in the Power Steering Gear & Linkages section on page ST-16. Go to the lower left-hand corner of the page and you will see an item named Tie-rod Inner Socket.

    thanks lloyd

so can i fix this problem by installing after market adjustable tension rods or caster rods, or am i thinking of the wrong part and have to buy this bushing cup thing on its own?
haha its no wonder i kept spinning out on the track when i have stuffed suspension

Don't want to be a party pooper, but they are the guys that took almost a month to fit my coil-overs and springs, and when I finally got the car back the wheel alignment(which they had three attempts at) was completely wrong and I had to get someone else to do it properly.:mad::eek::eek::eek:

Wow, not good to hear Chili :(

I will tuck that bit of info away for safe keeping ;)

I havent used their workshop but the guys I deal with over the phone are always spot on in translating my sometimes 'abstract descriptions' of what Im after. Service has been as good as same day on my doorstep -up to 2 days max if they don't have stock....

    :)

They have a very impressive looking establishment, which is why I decided to use them. It's just that their workmanship in house, leaves a lot to be desired.

If you want a serious upgrade

consider looking for Energy Suspension bushings... :D but could take time to post from US though, so it depends on the urgency! If you need it done ASAP, you might find someone who has them locally, but may have to get them from overseas or go for something else.

Just another option to confuse you! :p

    How do they feel?

Obviously will be stiffer then the silicone filled OEM ones, but are they really quite stiff, as in almost too hard for daily driving? I've ordered my set already, but wondered if I'd have to soften my suspension a bit (HKS fully adjustable) with the E Susp. bits in to stop my teeth from rattling out...

Definitely firmer ride, but not too rough IMO. Not that much improvement in overall handling. Much bigger improvement is Adj. Ball Jointed Tension Rods, Coil-over Shocks and Springs, and a decent wheel alignment.

    OK

    OK derived from:
    GOOD!

    DOH!

A 4-wheel alignment is certainly a must after doing that... plus I've had adjustable upper arms put on too by Baron, so needs it anyway. I just hope my Energy Suspension Master Kit arrives soon!

Does the energy suspension master kit come with the cup shaped bushes for the steering rack?
