    Hi All,

I'm at the point of removing the crank shaft from myengine block and have come to a stopper.
I have removed all the bolts that i can see, and the back end (flywheel end) of the crank shaft is free however i need to know how to release the front end (oil pump/timing belt pulley end). It seems that i somehow need to remove the timing belt pulley (shown in picture), but i dont know how i will do this, it seems to be on there quite tight and there is no space to put a pulley puller onto it.
I've read the service manual and all so ah yeah, if there is a trick to it or something i'm missing could someone enlighten me please?

    Yes

has to come off, some are easy most are not if they havent been off from the day it was put on 18 years ago.
some can be persuaded off with plenty of lubricant and gentle tapping and levering, be carefull there as it is the oil pump housing you are levering on and it is only made out of alloy, easy to break.
some that wont move have to be drilled off, drill a series of holes down where the woodruf key is and use a chisel to crack and remove it
New ones cost bugger all, clean it all up and the new one will go on ok.
You can also drill and tap a couple of holes into the face of the sproket and make a plate with a couple of bolts to pull it off
    hope this helps.

    Exactly what he said :)
A bit of heat will help if you are trying to get it off using the drilled holes and a puller technique.
Also clean the end of the crankshaft so that the pulley will slide over a clean smooth shaft.
If it gets to hard just drill it and break it as above they are cheap compared to the oil pump and wasted time trying to budge the unbudgable (new word LOL!)

I normally use a 4" grinder with a cutting disc. Cut down above the keyway as much as you can then wack in a cold chisel and bang away until you hear the crack. Slides off easy after that
