hey all ive seen a few of these lately and wanting to make one or buy one if i can source it, its a plastic lip that is hinged to the bumper by lil rods and although they also look pretty neat they look like they protect the bottom of the bumper aswell, anyone know wat i mean and can give me a name on what im trying to describe haha ill try upload a pic cheers

Its called a front splitter and it creates downforce, not there to protect the front bar haha

 

cheers buddy yea i know but the way i will install it will protect the bottom of my bumper and all the nasty scrapes will go on the splitter and not on a fresh painted bumper

 

The other issue is I have been told and I also believe they are illegal as they will cause "grievous bodily harm" if you hit someone.

Not sure the exact laws etc etc but be sure to look into it to save your bumhole from mr Plod in the future.

 

I have seen them on Forza when adding body kits, have no idea what they even were.

 

If youre worried about the bottom on the bar being scraped, why not look at the chin spoiler rubbery stuff you can buy from clarke rubber. It makes it look like a matt black lower lip, without being so glorified like the above mr2 lower lip. Its cheap and is double sided taped on. About to head out so i cant source you an image, but someone will know what im talking about. I think there was meant to have been a little GB for some. But its easy sourced from clarkies.

It will stop your bar from getting damaged...as far as paint goes.

They are called splitters, they are NOT for protecting the bumper but rather to direct and utilize air flow. You do NOT want to be smashing them rather than your bumper, and they will only reduce clearance.

yeah called a splitter, dont normally need the 'lil rods' on a street car which are there to help support it at speed not for it to pivot on. They're also made of metal not plastic. Driven Authority sell one for the zed, available in black or bare metal.
