Hi guys. Well as soon as this suspicion crept into mind I hit the search key on heater core replacement. I've been reading up on it the last couple of days. I'm ready to tackle it and will be sourcing the spare parts I need this week but.. Before I jump straight in, I wanted to get some opinions. I haven't had water leaking down onto my shoes yet. At first I could smell coolant, then I started to look down under the dash and noticed some green coolant built up along one of the plastic joins that must be the heater core box. I also noticed on each foot well the heater vents have had some coolant come through them as there is stains. Then I noticed a bit of a stain on the carpet on each side of the foot well, it would be like if I dipped my hand in coolant and just sprinkled it on the carpet near the air outlet of one of the vents. So it wasn't much. I put a piece of paper up under the heater core area as much as I could to see if it was wet under there, and it came back with small coolant stains, but by no way was it soaked, again like I just sprinkled some water on it. What do you guys think? There should be no sign of coolant normally around the heater core box correct? If it has got to that stage at least something is leaking which I'm going to have to fix right? It's a good time to fix the lifting dash (find a positive) Have I just caught a heater core failure early or could it be something else not so huge? Thanks for the advice Should i just get these parts from Nissan? Cheers..Clint
If you do get me some lol ive just fixed my core and im after some hoses as mine is bypassed. And I have no hoses to put on.
Fixed? Hi Did you replace both core and tap? What did they end up costing? Anything else i would need to replace? If i'm pulling this dash out its the last time. Cheers..
heater core .. one source "phillip radiators" in the ACT .. $190 ... for an aluminium core, including overnight delivery .. tap not included ...
I am getting mine fixed atm, Mitsubishi (calsonic) $60, requires slight die grinding of heater box as it is a tad bigger, no big deal. Total cost to fit $150 including core. You could probably do it yourself with a dremel, I just left it with them though.
good one wokie .. already noted it ..!! and method ... did you do the tap as well ...and cost also, if yes .. ...??? p.s. method ..hoping to pick up part number from your other post on heater cores .. thanks ...
