Is anyone running Conzult full version on Windows 8 ?

I'm not but on a separate note that may or may not be relevant to what you want, the other day I realised Windows 7 has an inbuilt Windows XP Mode (an executable icon) which I run Nissan Fast in, maybe Windows 8 has it too. If consult doesn't work in Windows 8 it may be an avenue to take.

If you have the 32bit version there is a way to run older programs, I don't think its on the 64bit version though.

Running freeware version without trouble. What trouble you getting on full version?

I leant my ECUtalk cable to a Skyline friend with a Mac, we ended up running a Windows 7 virtual machine and enabling a pass through for the USB device. Worked a charm!

Windows 8 is better than Windows 7 in this regard. On 7 you needed Professional.

On Windows 8 you have the ability to create VM's by using Hyper-V which is the same Virtual Machine layer that was only previously available on Windows Server.

Thanks for that, I have my XP laptop up for sale because I want to get a Windows 8 machine, but it seems it should run OK.

$129 Windows 8.1 with 8" tablet, in the Target back to school catalogue this week. Has Bluetooth, so it could connect to a ConsultBT. Pendo Pad brand.
Thought someone might be interested for their windows conzult diag software.

I just dropped into OfficeWorks to see what they had for Windows tablets, nothing. :(

Then I saw an Australia Post catalogue (until Jan 24) with the Pendoapad with Windows for $99 ?????

Is that cheap enough? (Includes Office 365 valued at $89)
but would it be good enough for your diag program for your Zed.
    Consult lite/full ?

Update, the AusPost PendoPad was a 7" Windows tablet and my local doesn't have any.
I thought for $99 a 7" would be better for anyone who was thinking of mounting a Windows Pad in the dash console area with their Zed Diagnostic software running. The 8" version might be too wide.

What does Office 365 Personal mean, a subscription version of office.
You don't need that to run Zed Diags software.

PS: I don't know if this will run your Windows Zed software, that is why I am posting this. Someone may know.

365 Personal .... as opposed to Student/Academic/Buusiness versions and priced accordingly ..... 365 means that it is good for 12 months only.

OK, so I bought the Windows tablet.
For anyone considering a Windows tablet as a permanent fixture in their Zed console,
The 8" tablet is 20.6mm wide (landscape)
The 7" tablet looks to be 19cm wide.

There are a bunch of buttons and cable ports all around the edges so I don't think they will work out as a permanent install.

I bought the 8" Windows tablet.

I now have to decide whether to install the 32bit or 64bit version of Windows 8.1
It is a compressed file on the 16gb internal RAM, so once I make my choice, the other version is deleted. (I am assuming this)

Is anyone running a Zed diagnostic program on 64bit Windows 8.1?
Which one is it and how much did it cost? Was it worth it?

I would install the 32bit OS, when I built my current super computer rig, I went with the 64bit OS as you would expect but now I cant run my Nissan FAST software as its a 32bit program:(. so I don't know if conzult would do the work on a 64bit OS. I know there are probably workarounds to run 32bit programs in 64bit using some special tool or program but I haven't looked into it yet.

Let me know how the windows tablet performs as I was hoping to use a tablet to do the same thing as you but not install it into the Z. My current celeron piss of shit 5 years old laptop is so slow its not worth using it anymore.

I left it on the install screen while I typed my previous post. It installed itself as 32bit OS. So I will install whatever Zed diag program for Windows now.

I think I would of gone 32 Bit on that hardware, Nissan DataScan for Windows and Nistune will run on either 32 or 64 bit Win 8 as will original Conzult, well I know it will run on 64 bit so it should be OK on 32 bit.

In a standard Win 8.1 install 32 bit is meant to be smaller then 64 bit, 64 bit is meant to give you a performance edge, but on entry level hardware where the 64 bit bus width has to be created on 32 bit architecture it will be slower because it has to "stack" it. Not sure what your tablet is but i will take a punt and say 32 bit.

I wouldn't run FAST on it for two reasons, storage, earlier versions of FAST that run on XP are about 5GB and later versions that run on Win 8.1 64/32bit are about 12GB, you have 16GB total you do not need ANY large software, also being a very large database it needs reasonable power to push it, this tablet would be pretty slow at it I think, FAST is something you have on your desktop or laptop with plenty of power and storage.

If you are after a genuine copy of Nissan DataScan I for Windows, I can organise a genuine key for you for $49. (Tom at DataScan has authorised me to resell DataScan)

Full spec here, if anyone is interested. Quad core processor etc.
    http://www.goodgearguide.com.au/art...ll-specification-list-199-windows-8-1-tablet/

    It was $129 at Target.
It comes with a micro USB port (micro-USB type A socket cable supplied) it has a mini HDMI port (adapter cable not supplied)
It has a separate DC power port and mains power adapter, but you could just use the micro USB port to power it in the car.

You will need extra micro SD memory card because the internal 16gb is filling up fast with Windows and I haven't installed the 365 days MS office subscription yet.
You may want a mini Bluetooth keyboard because the standard Windows screen keyboard is massive.

Well, I installed Consult lite and adjusted the settings for com3 to use Bluetooth and it found my BTconsult.

Saw some numbers come up, my idle went high, so I selected the idle speed adjustment and the car died immediately.

So it connects, but there is more for me to do so I can use this program.

Anyone getting this, might also need a stylus tip pointer because the menus are tiny on this tablet, unless you customise the text and button sizes.

I am experiencing a sometimes too high idle problem, so I was hoping this would reveal where the problem was.

Most of the menus are locked in the lite version, but the idle adjustment menu (until you switch off car to reset) is available.

Car stalled as soon as this menu was opened and would not start until I remembered to switch the car off to reset.

Ur tps reading is set too low in that photo. U will need to set it to .44-.46 and the disconnect the tps for 10 seconds. Then u can set the base idle in conzult. Adjust it from the iacv with a screw on the side of the unit to increase your idle.

Yes, my Auto does not like a TPS setting any higher than .38v
It could be masking another problem, so I did pay for a Newish TPS from a now ex ? forum member but received an Oldish TPS.
So my TPS stays in place for now.

I haven't found a setting to keep the BTConsult Bluetooth adapter recognized by this 8" windows tablet yet. I have it setup as a paired device, but the only way to enable it requires deleting and rediscovering it again.

    So this is
