Was just brain storming with my missus.... and was thinking on how to increase power for my NA and we thought of putting a single turbo into it.

Has any one done this or if it will actually work? I would like to make my car pretty unique, and this sounds like a good way to go :p

Search on the differences between an NA and a TT, the amount of boost an NA engine could take (due to higher compression) and the amount of work involved unless you have a workshop full of tools, lots of time and a vast knowledge of the VG30

More power? Why did you get an NA?

Isnt your other thread talking about skimping on your maintenance because its too expensive? Now your wanting to talk about a $5000-$20,000 conversion?

Have you got ALOT of money, or do you know what the hell you're doing? If so, go ahead, if not, best to forget it.

If you know how to weld (really well) and can also weld alloy then yes this might be a good idea it has been done a few times succesfully and sounds mint aswell  Bottom line though your probably better of with a TT thought will be much cheaper and easier.

You cant just weld up a manifold and through on a turbo. You will have to change one of the engine mounts, intake, injectors, pistons, fuel pump, ECU tuning, clutch and the list goes on trust me im attempting a ls1/tr6060 transplant and obsticles just keep popping up but it makes it interesting. if your prepared to through money down the drain and have your car of the road then go ahead if not then dnt bother sell it and buy a TT.

i honestly wasnt really seriously thinkin bout the conversion, just the idea

Cant afford the labour on a timing belt.. ?
But you want a new engine, big turbo, custom manifolds, big intercooler, new ECU, big injectors, a lot of custom piping.. all that would lead to gearbox mods and diff mods.

How much searching have you done on the topic? Both local and international forums?

umm, i cannot remember where i said i cannot afford the labour for a timing belt. i meant if the pockets were empty at the time.. wow some people take things a bit seriously on here i think, i just braught up an idea to see what people thoughts are.
im new to the whole Z tech thing, so some tolerance to a newbie will be respected.

It HAS been done before, if you search around a bit on here, you'll find a silver zed from the states. However that had the TT engine to begin with, so he could afford to run decent boost.. I think he did a lot of work himself and it was STILL expensive.

He had to remove the air con compressor, as well as make a custom exhaust manifold which routes exhaust from both sides of the engines to a single point where the big turbo is bolted. Then of course there's the custom intake / intercooler plumbing.. all up, a lot of modification. In terms of performance, he didn't do anything that could not be done with twin turbos..

    Positive comments.

Enjoy the ride for a while Flyboy. From what I've gleaned after just a few weeks on the forum you are better off from a reliability & cost point of view with a N/A car. Get to know it before you start to redesign it. The feedback so far from forum members is highly positive on the looks of your car, we're all barracking for you. If you want to explore some G forces you could look into Nitrous Oxide kits for those times when you want to party hard. I have no knowledge on this but you are bound to find some answers on this forum.
According to your signature you've just realised a dream, don't let anything sour it for you.

Take it easy mate. Happened with me too long time ago when bought a 2 seater and wanted to convert 2+2, LOL. This is a great place. Just take your time. Getting response that all it matters.

Don't even think of the conversion, if you want more power sell your NA and buy a TT and buy lots of worry at the same time.:)

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

would be easier and cheaper to do the twin turbo conversion from say a TT front cut.
Only problem is if you are bolting it onto your NA engine you're going to be straight away limited to maybe 10-12psi boost due to the higher compression on the NA engine. So it may be not worth it, unless you are doing the complete engine swap. in that case buy an entire TT half cut and do the full swap will be much more economical.
