i got a mate whos selling me his TT engine its got brand new turbos in it set him back $6k, some stuff happened to him he has to move overseas his selling me it for $2500, its got 160xxx kms on it.
All i need with his engine is radiator, flywheel, fuel pump, brakes, exhaust anything else i need to have it ready to go in my car?

His engine has everything on it already e.g coil pack etc he dismantled his car after a hit, just to let you guys know, what you think?

Now now don't be like that

Even our 'slow' NA's can go quicker than a dismantled TT, by the way it's good to see brakes on that list of necessary parts.

In all honesty dude its going to be more cost effective if you just get a TT ZED, unless you have a special bond with your NA for some reason.

theres a write up on twinturbo.net

give it a read and then make up your mind if its worth it.

having the engine is about 40% of the parts you need to accomplish this swap.

Realistically you should buy his car or at the least get the engine and an understanding you will be back for every other bit that the conversion needs including the Transmission, clutch etc.

Its things like the brackets, clips, pipes etc that will be the issue.

i did a NA to TT conversion...

All up, from memory, it cost me around 7.5K to do the conversion, that was with a front cut, front mount intercooler, and new tail shaft. Mind you i made the mistake of not changing all the hoses etc while the engine was out. I would definatly do that if you seriously concider doing this conv. probably allow 1k for that.
I left the NA diff in, have not had a problem with it. NA > TT also means No HICAS which i like. other than that its not an overly difficult job, just make sure you do all the little bits while its out, it will save you so much money in the future.

    thanks

alot guys, after checking it all out i think you would all agree it is a wise decision to just forget about the conversion lol, im thinking of moving to a R32 GTR but will see how it goes a nice TT might just fall in my path.

    cheers:

Yeah, no problems also with my NA diff

and NA gearbox. Granted, I haven't been drifting or done burnouts/drag style launches etc but still utilise PLENTY of power. The diff is very strong and would be very difficult to break IMO

ahh i went through the same phase... planned on selling my NA and getting a black gtr r32 but decided on getting it converted to TT...

cost me 13k all up lol.. bout 6kish each but thats because i went to a dodgy place 1st time and the engine caught on fire 4 hours after driving it.. 2nd time round i went to a different place and got a new engine, radiator, clutch, all the hoses ra ra ra for 5.7k. just be really carefull on where you buy the engine from / get it put in... the cheapest place is not always the best option
