So as many of you know, my Zed (Elle) is off the road due to engine failure. Both annoying and a blessing in disguise. While the engine is out I am taking the opportunity to do a lot of other work and mods that I had one day planned to do. Some of which are auto acu delete with all of its associated wiring, deleting hicas control unit and all of its wiring.

1:- The Auto control unit and wiring.
My car has been converted to manual many moons ago but the control unit has been left behind and I want to remove it along with any wiring to go with it. My question for this is will this cause any issues elsewhere?

2:- The hicas control module and wiring.
I had deleted all mechanical aspects of the hicas setup a long time ago and I will be doing a full electric assist steering setup. I plan on removing all of its wiring and sensors and as such I believe I wont need any of the sensors/solenoids on the steering rack. Is this correct?

My aim is to have any redundant modules, wiring and sensors etc gone to keep things as simple and clean as I can. Any informed opinions and experience will be most appreciated.

cant imagine that removing the control units for redundant, non working systems will do you nay harm.

if in doubt, try unplugging the control box and going for a spin and see if theres any difference, then you can remove safely after that.

id be inclined t leave the wiring, most of it will be behind the dash and part of the main interior wiring loom, and will bea pain the arse to remove completely. there wouldnt be any real weight in it so no benfits there, and its all hidden away anyway so no aesthetic benefits.

interested to see how you go about the electric power steering conversion as well.

Auto control unit can go in the bin, it'll be fine.

If you have the auto ECU still, it'll just throw a code but won't cause the ECU to go into any safety modes, so nill effects.

The motor is out so no chance of a test drive with units unplugged and the wiring harnesses are all unpicked so this is the ideal time to do the work. As for the electric assisted steering, I will certainly let all know how it goes.
