Getting on board this thread Jamie. Seems like this is how engine builds are done these days

Well think about it, you pay a shop to build a performance engine and you're basically left without a warranty due to the fact that it is a performance engine. What leg do you have to stand on? You can't prove they did dodgy work and even if you could, what credentials do you have opposed to someone who does it for a living? Way too easy for these guys to get away with this sort of thing.

Do I have this right? both of you have had engine problems from the same builder?

No Marcus' motor was built buy Eric/a2zed, not sure who did Jamie/Emile's motor but I assumed it was someone in Sydney

Absolutely, but your ace in the hole is that this is an industry where word of mouth means a lot

Correct, but that's up to Emile and I don't think he's wanting to do such a thing.

Wow that engine didn't have a chance

You can usually prove builder fault once the engine gets stripped down especially on a freshly built or very low km motor.

No wonder the lifters weren't pressurising hey? Don't think you'd get far with this one, second hand rebuilt motor and years old by now

Nah wouldn't have stood a chance. Kinda glad it was never tuned, god knows what would have happened if you threw it on a dyno.

Emile doesn't want the drama of contacting the original builder, could easily prove that it was his wrong doing but I think he just wants to wipe his hands of it now.

    ok ill bite lol.

takata harness's. bright green. in a (main usage)street car. going to make them removable? would be easier to have regular belts for day to day use.

to me it seems a bit out of place. personal opinion? yes. constructive? hopefully.

rest of mod list seems good. lots of dollars to be saved and spent.

Not to mention tricky to mount if you want them to be CAMS/ANDRA compliant

  15. Jamie

    Jamie Jamie The Hobbit

Fair point. Will have to look into mounting in regards to a two seater.

Went for a drive in my mates 86 with harnesses, felt way better with them on. Wouldn't use it for daily driving of course, just whenever some spirited driving is to be done.

I run both seat belts ..
the harness is wrap around on the cage and clips on the eye bolts on the floor . ..5 mins its in or out

Why stay stock cams if porting so much??

Bought the car with those heads on it.

Also, because the cars being built for response, not power.

Rear strut brace would be fine in the absence of a cage wouldn't it?

Also, damn that's a lot of dollars. I hope you're planning to run some good rubber on there with all that power, AD08R's are popular for max grip. Is that a TT or NA diff?
