just a quick question what's the healthy compression for stock TT should be around 100psi-120? or more? What does the service manual says? If anyone have one? I did a search in tech section came up with lot of talk around it but not exactly what I am looking for
Its more that 100-120. When I did mine recently it was around 155 all round except for one which was 130.
Don't be so concerned... ...with the actual number. But look for consistent readings on all cylinders. 140-150 but this depends on exactly how you do the testing. How many times you crank etc. (just make sure you do each cylinder the same as the others in this regard)
ya i just learned how to do the compression test. So mostly likely didn't do it properly. Will do it again and see what happens
The numbers themselves will vary hot to cold and slightly tester to tester. As suggested, if the motor is still strong, then all the numbers being similar is more important. If you have a loose cannon number, then you know you have an issue.
Don't forget to do a wet test as well, simply drop some oil in there. If figures jump up from 120ish to 140 or so... then you have worn rings.
NA 186 (min 142) TT 171 (min 128) Edit: Most important is that the difference between any 2 cylinders is no more than 14 psi. http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=298273
only done on one cylinder so far 90psi One of my mate was showing me how its done. Will do all properly and test that wet technique as well
