hi guys , I am getting this error code ""Code 34 : Knock sensor Circuit (0 starts ago) according to tech its means following 34 Detonation Sensor circuit The detonation sensor circuit is open or shorted (abnormally high or low voltage is registered). Harness and connector Detonation sensor is there a det sensor somewhere need replacing? I am checking via conzult cable no problem with the car just thought should check and see if there is any codes what do i need to to fix this? or 34 code is common? Previous "code 34" threads says its will come on with engine on so should this needs to be looked at or not?
Search mate, it's probably not really the det sensor. It's likely the connectors need cleaning. Try that or search "det sensor bypass" a 1ohm resistor I believe is a easy solution
Been 30 minutes, no-one has corrected CHILI yet. What, scared of him? Lloyd, it's a one Megohm resistor as in 1,000,000 ohms
I realised that Mick(about 10 secs after I could no longer edit the post). My real area of confusion was why no-one else picked-up on Procky's original error.:zlove::rofl:
fixed mine broken wire right on the connector a little solder no more error and full power again whoohooo just have fiddle around with a multimeter other wise do the resister by pass as per the tech section
Can happen. As Nem says, it depends mainly on your ignition timing. What else? A big enough vacuum leak that allows un-metered air into the engine, then the ECU doesn't supply extra fuel for the extra air. Wrong or knackered spark plugs can contribute to it. Blocked fuel filter. Lazy fuel pump. Dodgy fuel pump control unit. Bad carbon build up on pistons & valves. Over-developed muscles in your right foot. Under-developed muscles in your left foot, as in ' why bother to change down a gear ? ' Dean, have you got an ECUtalk display unit? Reason for asking - if you're not sure exactly what pinging / knock / detonation sounds like, you can use the ECUtalk unit to advance or retard your base timing on the fly by up to 10* either way then do some WOT at different revs in different gears. If you hear a noise which gets louder or softer as you advance or retard the timing, that will be it. Best description of the noise I ever got was from JEDI 77 ( thanks again Mark ) it's like coins jangling together. I suspected that I had a pinging issue. After JEDI's advice I tried the ECUtalk trick and yes, it was definitely pinging. By all means look into it but don't stress about it. NA's are tough as goats. A bit of detonation won't kill them on the spot like a TT Shisen, this started off with a 'maybe' then turned into a ramble! Meh, hope it was useful mate
