Well, i bleeded my Clutch fluid last night...again...did a complete replacement of fluids this time. When the car is off, the clutch is rock hard, when the car is on, its incredibly soft. Im wondering if its the master or slave clutch cylinder. There are no leaks at all, topped up the clutch fluid 5 weeks ago, drove it until now, and the fluid level hasnt moved at all. FYI, my father was giving me a hand, topping up the resivour while i was under the car....he accidently filled it up too much making it over flow....next thing i know there's dot 4 clutch fluid falling on to my face and in my eyes....ill tell you, it burns.... natrually i was out from under the car like a zertic! =P johnson and johnson should make a clutch fluid so its gentle on eyes too I was thinking of changing the slave first, and if that didnt fix it, changing the master. I need to change the slave some time soon anyway, i've noticed rust under the cover for it....
Is your car a TT? If so it's meant to be softer when the car is on. TT's have a vacuum assisted clutch mechanism.
yes my car is a TT, yes i know it has a vacuum assisted clutch mech. but its a hell of a lot softer then when i had it first installed 8 months ago. you could even say its rediculously soft. can barely feel it as you push...there's that little resistance... you can also notice when releasing that there isnt enough umph to push it back up quick....
A mouth full of chlorine glass washing solution is pretty bad... But that was at work (someone had the power in a glass, and i was thirsty and it was dark) Clean engine oil smells yummy
Anytime you get under a car you should wear safety glasses. I also read you should avoid prolonged expose to engine oil as it has caused cancer in rats. I heard, don't know if it is true, that if you feed engine coolant to a cat it will kill it? Apparently it tastes sweet but screws up their kidneys? Don't quote me on that one. But if you own animals, might be a good idea to not leave anything lying around after a job. I hope your eye is feeling better. Good luck with the clutch. If your car is changing gear OK then it should be OK.
I'll have to remember to 'take 5' and do a safety evaluation of the job before picking up a spanner... Most accidents occur around the home, after all! [/sarcasm]
my eyes are a little sore today.... vision only slightly werse..hoping it will go away soon.... thanks for askin car changes gears ok....just clutch slips like a bitch... clutch is only 8 months old, never done burn out, always been good to it.... feels as if there isnt enough preasure to hold the discs together...
funny enough the day before my father did mention to me i should be wearing safety glasses...though i feel like a dick when i wear them...
I had a mate around a few weeks back having a few beers and bleeding the brake and clutch systems on my car into you guessed it an empty beer bottle. A few rounds went by and next thing I hear is this horrible dry reaching vomiting sound. He picked up the wrong bottle and took a swig of dirty old Motul brake fluid I couldnt stop laughing and chuckled while typing this. Dont bleed brakes into beer bottles now for obvious reasons
Same guy years ago sprayed aero start into his eye accidently. He pushed the spray button down while the nozzle was facing up straight at his face. He is like that though always doing something funny usually while inflicting pain onto himself
