where is the closed throttle switch exactly? if it's in the tps then how does my consult know when its closed if its unplugged?
Switch is in the TPS and there are two plugs for the TPS, one for the variable position sensor and one for the on/off switch.
you would have to remove both plugs from the TPS to be sure. Maybe the ECU assumes that throttle is closed if no signal is present?
i unplugged one and it still knew so i plugged it back in then unplugged the other yet my lappy was still showing when the peddle was depressed; i have the E-mance consult that plugs into my puter and it seems to be 100% accurate... when i had either unplugged... thats why i'm like wtf...??? i wanna see if the pump goes to full pressure when the ecu thinks its not idling... (for those who haven't seen my other thread, i'm have big problems with fuel. runs fantastic but can't idle for the life of it!!!
but then i have no TPS! its sposed to be the one on the unit tps itself, it has closed and wide open, the dangly plug is the tps... but i supposed either or could give the ecu the signal!
i always thought it was on the top of the actual throttle pedal (as in up high where the spring etc is, where the metal bit rests when throttle is not depressed)
You can totally unplug the TPS and the car will still run and rev properly beleive it or not. If the TPS isnt there the ECU will use a VF map to predict its response. Not as efficent but still works.
It will just idle weird, Remember the throttle bodies are what controls the air going into the engine. The TPS is just there to accurately feedback their position. Lots of ECU's dont use a TPS. They calculate the throttle position from the air going in and put in the correct amount of fuel from the fuel map.
