Ordered a chromoly fly and clutch, was fitted today, the starter motor does not seem to be engaging with the flywheel, my mechanic did not double check if the teeth matched up with the stocker.

Any one had anything similar? any suggestions?

A bit frustrated right now, waited 2 weeks for this with no car and now I am in limbo.

Dd you get the correct fly for the car Na fir Na Tt for Tt. Was it an Na converted to Tt. Etc? If you had a factory Tt and put an Na fly in it won't engage , if you had a factory Na and put a Tt fly in you need a spacer

    thanks brisz!

I will try show my mech on monday some how from work.

And it is meant to be a NA flywheel, I got a clutch and flywheel package from the US, meant to be for 90-96 NA, I am guessing they might have sent me a TT fly, my Mech told me it was making a noise while trying to start, and wouldn't engage.

Hey mate I just had the same thing happen to me, however I have a tt and it has an na flywheel in it now, car wouldn't start due to a 3mm difference between the diameter of the tt v na flywheel, tt being larger. So you are lucky that you need a spacer to fill this 3mm gap whereas I had 3mm taken off my starter motor :/

so it is 3mm? or 3/16 of an inch?

A Twin Turbo flywheel will only work witha TT clutch as different bolt pattern, both are 250mm face, NA are 240mm. A TT flywheel will not fit NA bell housing without clearancing first. We have seen Chrome Molly ZTT flywheels incorrectly made, with the taper on the ring gear teeth the wrong way around, to suit starter motors mounted on the engine, not the gearbox as on zeds.

Just read that PDF ... can't you just tap the hole rather than arsing around welding on a nut ???
