This is the first new part I've had to buy for my exhaust (besides some minor repairs for roadworthy) since I've owned her, and what can I say except, quoting big Kev, "I'm excited!" Heres a pic

As you can see these baby's are super small and restrictive, the car sounds so quite now it's idle sounds like a kitten purring. Heres another pic of the mufflers I had removed, these remus mufflers made the car sound throaty & delicious, but still not loud like cannons do, but alas the police man that reported me to the EPA didn't feel the same way!

most people remove them after they pass the epa test ;) then he can loan them out to all the other zedders in vic if they ever get epa'd...;) ;)
my friend had to drive around with a pea shooter like that when his rexy got epa'd... but the police didn't even catch him and make him get it tested, he got dobbed in by an epa car that was following him but he never actually got pulled over, he just got a letter in the mail saying that he needed to bring his car in for a epa test...

do you have any other mods that you had to fix up? like afc, cats etc?

    Yeah no the current exhaust

Is stock as a rock except for the mufflers, I was apparently reported by a Vic copper on my way to work late one night,Never saw any police cars ever on this route, maybe officer lives in house on this street. Anyway I went to approved EPA testers yesterday, and apparently the car cannot exceed 90db legally, I though I'd be ok compared to alot of other cars I'd heard getting around, but mine was 97db. So off to the exhaust place to quieten her down a little. Believe it or not I only JUST scrapped by the legal limit of 90db with these pissy mufflers and stock exhaust. Its got me thinking, how many of you guys can the Police put off the road any time they feel like it.

    I should also mention

That EPA testers , rev your car to 4800 rpm to get the legal reading, so no wonder its so hard to pass, I wouldn't be surprised if some cars straight out of the show room would fail this test. I had big plans for dump pipes, test pipes high flow cats and 2 1/2 pipes to the mufflers but reality is proving to me that I'll be getting defected any time a copper choses.

noise and flow do not always go hand in hand with a little thinking and time an exhust can flow well and be quite

Something else to keep in mind

(info for those that haven't been Epa attacked before) If the car hasn't passed the db test, or the EPA hasn't received the copy of compliance by the due date ( around a month of being reported) you will receive a $551 fine & have your registration cancelled or if prosecuted a maximum court fine of $6607. I'm feeling kinda lethargic about the whole ridiculous system at the moment, Curious though, are any of you guys worried about being epa reported? Or you'll just deal with it by going super stock then going back to original?

you cant tell me they rev harley's to 4800 rpm to get a legal sound surely

    Hmm yeah but...

90db is prity quiet man, I find it hard to believe that you could have a decent high flow exhaust reving at 4800 rpm and be below 90db, I know you can get electronically controlled mufflers/cannons where the sound and flow output can be controlled like a stereo, low for certain situations and high for when ever you choose... maybe thats the way ta go...:p

i think for the nosie test they actually rev the vehicle to two thirds of the maximum rpm i think that is where this figure is coming from

i had and r32 gtst rb20det with a kakimoto 3.5" turbo back with high flow catco cat, high flowed t3 turbo, fmic etc etc lots of mods, pushing 230rwkw @ 86dB

had a big resonator and muffler kept it nice and quite, usually if you whack on a nice resonator it will quieten the exhaust alot!

No I think i depends on the engine &

Type of vehicle, When you make a booking they ask if its a motorcycle or car, when you get there they check whether its a v6, v8, straight 4 or whatever, As far as I know thats the way they do it. I can't imagine any Harley I've ever heard passing the test though, unless they have a 200db restriction! :D
