can anyone tell me what category/year this chassis number fits? GCZ32-567614 its from our (newly purchased) 97 2+2 TT (thats what the rego papers say) thanks
Never managed to confirm when it was on ebay in May. Does not fit in with any Jap production numbers. Seller Pansy-Mikey was very vague and could not come up with any other explanation other than it might have been destined for the middle east or somewhere, but ended up being sold to Oz instead. (in '97 when it was complied) I was initially interested, but when he could not support the claims it's year of manufacture I lost interest. He claimed the original VIN plate was removed at time of compliance. Very nice car though ebay '97 zed
Here's the link for the Chassis numbers compared to year of manufacture in the tech section. Suggests the number is somewhere in 1998 which the table does not go to that extent. I would check the number that is stamped on the center of the firewall and see if it corresponds to what is on your rego slip.
yeah it was complied in 97 but the rego papers have the year of manufacture as 1997 too. GCZ32-567614 is the number stamped on the firewall, the number from the rego papers is different (must have been changed when it was complianced) and we did have a look at the different year specs etc and the chassis number table ... that is what confused us even more
Dont mean to sound too negative Clara but it smells a bit fishy really. If it is a mint 97 car with low klms surely the original Jap tag would be attached to the car. If it isnt then alarm bells should be ringing. It looks like a nice car but you may have paid a premium for something that isnt what you thought it was. I did notice it has electric Hicas which should put it at very late 94 on but the non airbag wheel and lack of Jap Tag raises the question somewhat. Dont be deterred its a nice clean example by the looks of it. J
The car was discussed on the forum Here Some doubt as to manufacturing year, but pansy-mikey claimed that specs for middle east was (or could have been) quite different to Jap specs. Hence the lack of air bag etc. He claimed to have done a search for clues of manufacturing date, seat belts, carpets, tail lights and all other parts that have dates on them. You might have to do that again to find some more clues. http://www.300zx.org.uk/import_dating.htm
Cost and public forum? Not sure she wants to display it on a public forum but I do know when I got off the phone to her how much it cost, she told me, and to be honest i'd pay the same for something like that if i had my day again, can't wait to see it in the flesh this weekend
just curious mick, its a good way to gauge prices on various models,if she wants to keep it to herself, thats fine looks nice and clean for a standard looking zed
Thats cool Simon I'm not having a go at u in particular, but when was the last time anyone has seen a 97 Manual TT with Sweet F.A. km's on the clock, all im saying its one hell of a buy imo, i remember looking at presige motorsport back in the day when i imported my zed and saw these things commonly go for 1 million yen! , and thats just a high 90's model Z32 with km's probably higher than hers! At the end of the day all I can say is AWESOME , Dave mate u must be so happy!
did the search for clues but thats not accurate cause most of those bits are interchangeable between the years so they could have manufactured the parts in 92 but put them on a newer year model. we did see the inconsistencies with the chassis number and production year etc but considering that the car (whatever year it may eventually turn out to be) is as NEW as you will find decided to get it anyway. haha and to answer everyones question we paid $25k i think the easiest way to find out is to ring nissan
Shes cool mick,i get where you are coming from, ill still send the sidemarkers lol thanks clara,i like to keep up with what the current market values are ,nice buy !!
I checked it out in Nissan FAST and didn't get a match? wtf? What CD's are you using? The same ones I gave you? Dave let me take it for a spin yesterday after we threw it on the dyno, really nice drive. Like a brand new car, BMW kind of drive. So smooth, quiet, no road noise, beautiful gearbox... OMG! Boosts nice and just all round A1. I've driven many, many, many Z's and this is the best I've driven so far. Not performance wise, just luxury, brand new, stock as a rock kind of drive. Love it! :zlove: Makes me want to buy a 99 spec and garage it for its life, bring it out for the sunday drive. lol!
Yep. Put the VIN code in. GCZ32-567614 You get a "model series can not be found for this vin no. etc." Then put Z32 in model series. And you get 98/09.
A Z32 is a NA 2 seater. 98/09 is also the year after the car arrived in Australia A good hint would probably be any mechanicals like hydraulic/electric Hicas. Interior such as airbags could have been customized dow to a lower/older/different spec, but it would be very unlikely they used older mechanics like hydraulic hicas rather than the current electric in 97
