    Mikezah build thread incoming!

    Hey guys,

This has probably been covered before but each problem is kinda unique so here I go...

    - Central locking has been fitted to the car and used to be working perfectly since I purchased it.
    - the immobiliser works

    problem 1.
    - when I turn the key in the drivers side door, it just rotates freely (it has been like this since I purchased it)

    problem 2.
    - Ever since I got home, I press the button on the remote and the drivers side door only, makes a locking noise (higher pitch than previously) and none of the doors lock

    things I have tried are...
    - the spare remote - driver door makes the same noise.
    - turning the key in the passenger door only unlocks the passenger door, not both.

any help would be much, much appreciated as my car is kinda... vulnerable :(

    1. Key not working in the drivers door is most likely due to the OEM rod retainer clip (yellow) being broken- a common thing with the 300zx's

    2. Keyless entry no longer working is most likely that the actuator rod from the aftermarket drivers solenoid has come loose. Most are retained via a small grub screw. Over time, it rattles loose.

Both issues involve removing the drivers side interior panel. Issue No1 is a little more involved, as it also requires removing the drivers door handle, and then replacing the above-mentioned yellow retaining clip.

Regarding issue no2, again with the drivers trim removed, use your keyless entry remote to active your aftermarket solenoid. Take note of where its attached, or supposed to be, familiarise yourself with the operating throw of the OEM solenoid rod and re-attach.

no wuckers. Aftermarket keyless entry basically only requires the 1 master solenoid installed in the drivers door. This in turn utilises the existing central locking to unlock the passenger door. Unfortunately, the installation and fixing method of the installed solenoid often leaves something to be desired in the "maintenance free" department.

Each installation varies, but the overall function is pretty much the same. 99% of the time, the fault lies with the 2 phillips head screws that connect the aftermarket solenoid actuator arm to the OEM central locking arm coming loose. A few depressions of your remote and checking what it does, and what its meant to do makes things pretty clear.

If I can fix it, any1 can :p
