    Guys,

Just after some advice and ideas at this stage. But I have a lovely Z32 (unregistered and not working -yet) in Dubbo (central NSW). The car can role but does not start.

I would like to get her shipped up to Brisbane to a friends house so we can work on her.

Ideally I would like to do this on the weekend. Drive down to Dubbo on Saturday, hook it up and get it ready, and drive back Sunday (2500km round trip :bash: )

Ive asked a few commericla trucking companies, and they want $1200+ to ship it up here, and that is uninsured. Soon as the car doesnt drive, they are charging a fortune...

Question for you all is, what would your suggestions be to get the car up to Qld? The car is almost ready to run, I just need someone to check it over and make everything is working fine before I start her. Shes been off the road for over 3 years as I havent had time to get her running.

    Any ideas?

Cheapest would be to get someone to get it going then drive it back with a temporay permit. 2 nd would be to find a bloke that does small local tows ( for scrap e.c.t ) and see what he would charge for the trip. 3 rd a car trailer.

    Closer to 1700km than 2500km.

If you have something to tow it with, hire a car trailer for two days and just go get it. Get the trailer with winch and it is only a one man job. I have doen it lots of times, even picked up a tractor in Melbourne behind my Pajero that way. The trailer hire will cost a couple of hundred bucks.

The best setup would be a 4WD towing the Zed, but I see Benny_C has done it the other way around. :D

Hire a decent car trailer and go pick it up. IF the front bar is removed, then a zx just fits on. The radiator support panel will overhang the RHS front frame, so check heights first if going this route, and make sure you have a battery in the car to wind the windows down, or a Targa removed, as you wont be able to open your door enough to get out.

Make sure you get some decent ratchet straps also. Vehicle must be secured at 4 points. Fine applies for each missing point. Was only made aware of this as I borrowed a trailer from a tilt tray driver friend.

Just took me 6 Large Dare Double Espressos, 3 cans of Mother and 4 tanks in fuel in a BA Falcon ute to do a 1400km round trip straight.

So i did some rining around, and the cheapest company i have found so far is "Move yourself trailer hire" from the Gap.
    they quoted me:
$123 for the trailer (with winch) with a $100 deposit
$96 for a Mitishi Tritton diesel and a $250 deposit. First 200km are free and then 25c for every Km over that. I worked out that its roughtly 870km each way, so thats about $150 in excess usage.
So all in all, ~$850 minus the $350 deposit, $500.

That does sound pretty reasonable to me. Would anyone be able to lend me a car trailer with a winch and ill pay them a carton of beer or two?

I bought my car wrecked/not running from Dubbo.

Hired a trailer and set off in the Commodore. Got to Jerilderie, tranny on the Commodore blew up.

Hitched back to Melbourne, Borrowed a mates 4WD went back to Jerilderie. Put the Commodore back on the trailer and brought that home. Then paid $1200 for a car transporter to bring the Zed down to Melbourne.:eek::eek::eek::eek:
