Z32 Car stopped on HWY wont re start.

    So I was driving down the off ramp lifted for an approaching T intersection and it cut out. Wont restart. have cleaned the TPS and CAS connections, have spark have fuel pressure so what can I check that will give a crank no start? Not very technical so be kind. Its a 1990 TT 5speed that has new head gaskets , turbos and a tune. but died while driving. I cant see or find any boost or vacuum leaks, have tested for spark it has spark, had fuel to rail. Before I burn it and buy a Camry?? What can cause this that I can replace? OR is anyone close to Moss Vale who can help me out? My wife is pissed that I have spent more money on the broken Z. Thanks rant over. Just want to drive the stupid thing.

    Have you checked the connectors on the ptu unit, if the connectors are corroded the car won't start. If they have green corrosion on them clean off as much of the corrosion as possible and reconnect and see if the car starts

    Is "had fuel to the rail" mean you don't now?... empty fuel tank:D

    If you haven't done so already, check the ecu to see what codes it throws out.

    Also since the car has been worked on, Check that all your sensors are fully plugged in and the TPS and CAS are in the correct position are actually tightened down. My project car wouldn't start because the CAS not being done up properly

    No codes and tried a 2nd ecu for good measure.

    Will check the CAS already did the TPS. Have ordered a CAS to swap in as a check.

    You said you had fuel pressure, what was that pressure?

    Does it attempt to fire (ie. cough and splutter) or does it turn over with no signs of life?

    Does it have a series 2 PTU fitted? Assuming you only tested for spark on one of the front cylinders, possible to have it on one but not all.

    If you're getting spark on all cylinders the next step would be to confirm what fuel pressure is at the rail. It's not uncommon for an original pump to fail and provide some pressure, but not enough to start the car. Or not be able to provide consistent pressure.

    It's unlikely to be a bad CAS, these almost never fail and unless you're getting a code from the ECU to indicate no cas signal I would look elsewhere.

    Mine did this once, while waiting for the lights to change, it just went dead. It was the CAS connector. Needed to disconnect it and reconnect it and I was on my way again in no time. Never happened again since then. Random things aye.
