Its been done, and i have been searching most of today.

    Can't find it.

My friend works at Coventries so he is going to get me cost price items to service my car with but i am having a few problems with what to get.

I also need to get parts for my friends 2000 Club Spec Evo 4 (WRX) which is harder than the zed but thats another story.

I am trying to search for what Oil i should use, i have been to wikipedia and read though what the ranges mean but it wasnt turbo specific.

My friend wants Redline oil for his car, more money then sence i think, theres a 10W 30 and a 20W 50 i think, i was just going to get the 20W 50 unless anyone has any reason not too.

All in all has anybody got a link to the thread?

I use BP visco 5000 10-40 weight in my TT. this is a full synthetic oil.
    i think i payed about 45bux for the 4litres.

    regards,
    Trev

i think my last was 10W 50.....the redline is for a subaru though.

which is why i want to know where the oil thread is because it explained the differences quite well.

theres 1000 pages of tech threads, spose i will start from the top

i guess it depends how many kays the motor has done and what you use it for .

I once saw an STI pick up 9whp on the dyno when switching from 15 50 to 0 40

    ahhhh oils

one of the best oils that you cant beat is the penrite sin series. its a fully synthetic oil which only uses 4th grade oil (unlike 90% of the synthetics out there that use 3rd and 4th grade). the sin series carries the highest amount of zink comparing to other oils, and can be changed at every 10,000km rather than 5000 because of ability to hold its viscosity.

yea i put very thin oil in my zed a month ago after my engine flush..

Felt alot of power gain, but the engine sounded rough so i put way thicker oil in it now. and now its slow again.. ahaha.

    In the Redline theres 10w - 30
    5w 30
    and
    15w 50

I am going to go 10w - 30 for the subaru (sti turbocharger but still 2L) Or maybe 15W 50... suggestions?

I am going to get penrite for my car 20w 50 thats certain i checked thats exactly what i got last time, dude at repco sold it to me. (penrite as well)

im using the sin 10-70 i find it a good oil, and does its job. No matter what, i still change it at 5000k's.

I heard elf oil is really good too, also another subaru mate i know uses it and swears by the stuff that its good!

Try some engine oil for the engine and some gearbox oil for the gearbox.

What shampoo should you use, what type of butter ?

Just use good quality stuff of the correct grade. Everybody have opinions, usually founded on price, heresay or color of the bottle.

    Read the manual !

redline motor oil is a waste of money for street use. it will cost you over $150 for an oil change and filter. stick with your penrite dude, your paying $$$ for the name "redline" cause its an american brand

Anyone know why Fuchs oil is so cheap? It's almost half the price of other oils which just makes me wonder.

It's German, seems like a good oil, it's fully synthetic and I have used it in the past on my Soarer with no problems.
