Can we get an OEM bolt spec list going for the VG30DETT and accessories

    Hi all

I am hoping there is someway we can build a OEM bolt spec list for the VG30DETT engine and its associated parts and ancillaries (pumps/brackets/alternator/clutchplate etc.)

There are OEM specific bolts that vary by mm and given the importance of some, it would allow people to rebuild the relevant section which the manual does not always specify other than by torque settings when often length/ thread or shank are critical.

Eg.. What is the length of the steering hydraulic pivot bolt...or what is the shank of the clutch plate bolt....or what is the maximum height of a flywheel bolt head...

All these answers....means worst case scenario .....you could lose all your bolts in an engine removal and then still rebuild every part based on the correct specs. Given the differences in getting the wrong bolt can be disastrous....this would be handy.....

I am happy to help measure the bolts specs and post in such a OEM tech bolt spec database/ list but mods would need to somehow collate the info and post into our tech section. I would even try to collate a list but would need help........can we use forum people power to do this, given its importance to the VG30DE/ TT tech section

Thoughts..........maybe even pics with dimensions overdrawn?

I can offer flywheel and clutch plate specs straight up.....with maximum / minimum limits as well for auto /manual for VG30DETT :)

Buy a parts car. Then you'll have spares of everything.

Or part out a few and then you'll have everything you'll need.

Doing engine swap right now and I had a few trans bolts which had rooted threads, I raided a bolts box which had left overs from 2-3 part outs and sure enough found spares in there.

Some of the specialised items such as the starter motor bolt for example CANNOT be substituted with aftermarket items. I tried to find one but none fit tightly like the factory one. You have to buy the genuine one, which by the way is pretty easy to track down on various Nissan part diagrams.

Haha - good advice - go and buys lots of Z's and wreck them

What's so special about the starter bolt? Is this Auto or Manual / TT or NA?

Found out today the PS OEM pivot bolt has a centre punch guide head to make life easier - could not imagine trying to get a cut off thread into place!

I guess the point was more to help the newbies - some bolts are critical and how are they meant to know, unless they have the specs of the bolts with notes attached stating why they must have certain specs they could spend days / money away for something that ends up in disaster - eg. use a 25mm or 30mm flywheel bolt or a flywheel bolt with a hex head and disaster is awaiting even though it may not be apparent to the average Z newbie. It would also help in identifying the bolts needed such as Grade 8 27mm Length 14mm Hex Fine Thread M10 with 1.25 pitch etc. and you could even have figures for Max Length / Min Length / Special features / Notes etc.

Tedious - I guess - but if we had a system whereby we could input the data - I am sure many would fill it in over time and build up the database. Z workshop beginners/ and owners would benefit the most. I don't consider it tedious in the long run if there was some sort of data input system and also given there is a definitive number of bolts.

I don't think this is specifically an OEM list, it is based on the engine bay bling bolt kit. Some are not the exact lengths as OEM. But yes a good start.
