Re: used to have a sound system in the car Ah I see. When I bought the car it came with an amp and all the wiring to hook the amp up in the boot, though I've no idea how to so I've just left it. If I were to hook the amp up would I need to do something with that red wire?
Some people like to put very high power sound systems in their cars... Those systems draw so much power that the normal fused accessory line inside the car is not up to it. So it is usual to run a separate power circuit direct to the battery just for the sound system. It is usually made of wire of a thickness that could carry enough current to light a small town. It cannot be stressed too much that it must have a fuse in the line (yours does). The other end of that red wire should be in the back of the car where the amplifiers usually go. If you don't understand any of this, and you would like to install some high power sound, you should get someone to help you who has done it before. Cheers :zlove: Barry
Re: used to have a sound system in the car Yes, The red wire connects to the positive terminal of the battery. And in the boot to the positive terminal on your amp. It's not too hard to connect the amp, just need basic wiring skills.
