no it shouldn't... There is no magnetic media in an ECU (i.e like in PC's with harddrives, floppy disks etc.) shouldn't cause any problems at all.... Have you put your sub rather close to your ECU or something !? Matt.
no, i was thinking about fitting a permanet magnet coupling to the torque converter drive plate to run the water pump rather than using electric, i can imagine your reaction,WHAT?
can i run this by you? fasten in position, permanent magnets just inside the ring gear on the drive plate, say 6@60degree spacing.(this is only conceptual). built into the drive plate inspection plate is a bimetal wheel parallel to the ground, that resists the magnetic field as the drive plate rotates. connected to this wheel is say a flexible coupling(say from a edge trimmer) to the water pump. too stupid for words! do you think?
interesting concept... I'm not sure if it would work or be practical but interesting non the less. even if it does work at low speeds I'm not sure it would work once the revs get higher. I'm curious as to why you want to do this? The general benefit of an electric water pump is that it will work even with the engine off and so is independent of the engine RPM. This would still be dependent on the engine to drive it and so negates some of the effect. kudos for thinking outside the box though. AB
You still won't get something for nothing .... Even using magnets, there still would be a load on the engine. Better off just using a stock water pump.
As a back-up you could have 6 White Mice in a exercise wheel. And if you put the "Cat back", you could speed the mice up significantly:LOL::zlove::thumbsup:
are these mice on steroids? i know i watch too much discovery channel, have you seen how powerful some of these u bute permanent magnets are getting. instead of mice on a wheel what about an induction coil, one good size commutator,
Depends on how you define "powerful" I recently saw a strawberry magnetised!!! Now that was a powerful magnet. Not helpful I know but certainly curious. cheers Geoff
