Hey there, I'm buying a z car from eBay. And i was wondering how much would it cost to get someone to check it out for me, and give me a full description on whats wrong, and if its worth it. Without buying it for them self. Thanks allot,

The car is in NSW, Preston

    I want one so bad

Thanks for the z32 checklist. just woundering if

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-300zx...=39:1|66:2|65:3|240:1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

was a good buy, as well as

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1990-Nissan-...=39:1|66:2|65:3|240:1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

And if so. What would be a reasonable offer, for the white one? The dealer of the white one ensures me that there is a full inspection done on this car, and nothing is wrong with it. There was some side door damage or something, but they fixed it up. What things could go wrong with just buying this off the internet without getting a 300zx member, or registered mechanic to look over it first?

I know how much 300zx's cost to fix up. And i live in townsville QLD, so parts arnt exactly laying arorund. Any advise, comments, are greatly welcom.

    Thanks so much,

    john

Don't bother with the first one, sounds like a costly can of worms.
The white one looks nice, just make sure you get someone that knows zeds to have a look at it.

They've both done a lot of kays and both could potentially be up for their 2nd or 3rd 100,000KM services right off the bat. Wouldn't buy either without some sort of inspection. The black one looked shit even before the accident and even @ $3600 sounds like a lemon.

I have no idea what is going on with the white one, why they'd opt to put in a speedo cluster showing more kays is beyond me. I would expect the car to have done close to 300,000 kays because quite frankly I don't believe that story about the car having doing only 210,000 and they put in another one.

That's what i thought, and cant you wind those things back anyhow, with a registered 'winder-back-era'? Say its close to 300,000, how would that effect the performance of the engine (and general wear and tear wherever it might be), also, is it reversible (damage to the engine), and if so, how much.

    Thanks so much,

    John

    What about

Having a look at the Zeds on this forum in the forsale forum, not saying that ebay zeds are bad but at least the ones on here, most of the sellers are regular forum members, food for thought :zlove:

Not even the white one? why is that?

    number of reasons:

    1) i hate dealer
    2) 283598km+, scarily high
    3) too far away from you
    4) for that price you may get a better one, dont forget you have to pay for freight (maybe you will drive back, but at least i wont), registration and regency inspection fee. end up could be $600+
    5) that's alot choices in qld, why not search that market first?

edit: a member is selling a NA T-top MT in QLD, major services done, 150000km, red but only $6500.

Unless your lucky i wouldnt limit myself to just one color, im sure you could get better ones than those, its a buyers market atm...

    mate.....

stock.. thats a good thing to aim for imho

BUT colour is REALLY REALLY not something that should stop you buying THE RIGHT zed.

a respray is cheeper than fixing a bad car

    food for thought.

Id be more concerned about knowing what KIND of zed you want, ie:
    2 seater or 2+2?
    Na or TT?
    Hard top or slick?
    Auto or Manual?

and even with those... if you find A MINT zed thats clearly looked after, id compromise on some of the above items.

your only looking for trouble scraping the bottom of the price barrel with 300zx's..

    That's pretty damn true...

I know this sounds bad....but i kinda just want one now lol....i love them

I drive a VS-Spack commodore atm, its ok, but i love the 300zx so much. all i got is $6000 and i figured that's a pretty good price for a 300zx. The dealer said he would take $5900 for the white one. I really did it, then thought of consulting the gods of 300zx's.

I also dont have the time to do a respray. i work long shifts, 10 on 4 off. and yeah that's a long time to have it in a panel shop i guess. i also wouldn't mind a bit of a project. as i would enjoy the learning curve. I guess i could just wait one more shift.....then ide have like close to 9 grand, that way i could buy a pretty nice one.

I still want a stock standard one thoe. I cant trust other peoples dodgy money saving back yard work. Oh yeah, i am looking for a 300zx that is

    1. Non turbo
    2. 2 seater, would take 4 seater thoe.
    3. Manual
    4. T-top
    5. Low clicks
    6. White
    7. Bog standard, would accept body kit maybe.

    Thanks very much

    John

well i would predict one of 2 things happening..

your love for zeds would die on its ass within a few weeks of owning the el cheapos on ebay from the constant problems and wallet rapage.

or you bite the bullet, chances are your not going to be hit by a bus tomorrow, save up 10k and buy yourself a brilliant aussie n/a zed that will last for another decade with proper maintenance.

If your buying a zed you really shouldnt max out your savings, if something goes wrong you wont have any left over for repairs and then you'll be car-less... seriously dude just wait, save some more and dont buy a cheapy. You want something stock, which has had necessary services especially the 100k. If your just scraping to get a 6k zed it might be worth it to wait a little while...
