so I just checked my coolant level, and it's all brown. Checked my radiator and it's all BROWN -_-. I haven't had any over heating problems and I'm sure it's not gasket/leak related as they've been replaced fairly recently, so does it just need a good old flush or is it something more sinister? also it's not "milky" it's just basically brown water with a sour/metal smell.. so it's just rust?
Was it filled with water only? Def flush it and take the radiator out to be flushed and rodded professionally.
dont worry, happened to me when i first bought the car, flushed rad+engine+heater core twice and filled with good coolant, now it's nice and green
Read something about a Moshimoto EVO radiator with magnetic radiator cap?? Has anyone seen something similar for Zeds ? Might minimise the rust problem next time.
To minimise rust next time, use anti freeze. How is a magnetic radiator cap going to minimise rust? If you have that much rust that it's going to get caught on a magnet, the cooling system is in serious need of maintenance.
Meh, its not that weird, you just musnt be using any coolant at all. who did your last cooling system flush? drain it all out, and put in some nulon Long Life or alternative green stuff. I don't think zeds use red, but i might be wrong. purple is a good colour too, but its not that common, but brown definately is a bad thing. not the worst in the world, but bad as in, not good. don't be scared of the rust colour, put a little green in and that brown will turn Good as Gold!!!! Sincerely, Waynoz
Lol. Wayne you make it sound like a magic potion. As above comments mentioned. Take it to a rad repair shop for a power flush. then refill with a good quality coolant. Alternatively you can do it yourself with a garden hose. Let it run through it for a while until clear, then whist the engines running for a short period of time. Afterwards drain as much as you can of the tap water. Get some distilled water and flushing agent and run that for a few hundred kms. Then drop it all, flush again. Then last job to do is refill with a good coolant. Either premix or concentrate + distilled water. Or rain water if you must. Power flush is better though and quicker.
What colour was the coolant when it was put in ???? ... some are actually brown .. they are not all bright flouro colours
