Hey everyone, just bought a zed yesterday and one of the problems is this broken piece of plastic which (I think) is the splash guard. The previous owner said it has been broken for a while and that it doesn't effect driving , it just scrapes along the ground at certain times . would it be ok to just cut it off with scissors or should I order in a new piece and replace it. Very good. If your interested, theres a thread going at the moment, in the technical section about under engine splash trays. Might be a decent read for you. Cheers
Actually while you probably can get away without it for a little while, I'd recommend getting a new one. Especially if you do a lot of wet weather driving. That guard helps force air through the radiator and stops water from splashing up into your pod filter if you have one.
Bob, Cutting that off is fine because it doesn't look right, not doing it's job (brokent). But it should be replaced, it was there for a reason. I had an old one on there but I screwed it in so it performed the way it should. I also installed new wheel guards. Someone has hacked at it my the looks or not put the screws in properly. You need it to assist in cooling the engine, otherwise it WILL overheat.
ive got the wheel guards they just arnt on the car atm , Should be easy to put on. and yea ill look into buying a new splash guard. I think its about 100 from america :s
