theres quiet a few noises coming from the breaks lols

when i press the brakes at standstill.. in park..

i hear a whistling noise coming from the pedal area.. and that sounds like air is escaping or somethign

at the front i can hear clicking... this is still standstill

i hear like that old car breaking noise when im stopping... while driving... like the train ones lol.. sorry im not good at explaining sounds LOL

and when im just normally driving i can hear a little like squeaking.. i presume these are the bearings... EDIT this sounds like its coming from the front..

altho i have no idea.. its really odd..

hows that for my zeds breaking system

    do you have ABS brakes?

On my black zed if i press the pedal hard while at a standstill i too get this whistle sound from the pedal area...no idea as to what it is, however it does not affect my braking...

also happens if coming to a speedy stop, obviously harder braking force on the pedal, hence the sound....

not really a resolution but i too am keen on some insight.

one idea i did have was that the pivot pin may need lube...but its not a good enough idea to warrant looking into.

maybe a vaccum leak coming up past the actuator pin that goes into the booster...

"whistling" noise you are hearing while depressing brakes at a standstill is nothing to worry about. Every time you depress brake pedal, air is forced out from the rear of the pin that actuates the master cylinder, through what should be a rubber dust boot on the inside of the firewall. Hopefully some1 that is more mechanically minded can specify what above-mentioned pin is actually called. If you had a vaccuum leak, every time you press the brake pedal on idle, you will lose vaccuum, and the revs will drop...... possibly to the point where the car will stall.
"clicking" you can hear while pressing brakes is simply the caliper pistons closing. Perhaps have a look at them, but unless leaking fluid, or not releasing, it isnt a concern.
"squeaking while braking or driving" can either be:-
    1. The compound of the pads themselves.
    2. The pads could be glazed over.
    3. Warped rotors, causing intermittant contact on the pads when rotating
    4. Pads worn and the "tell tails" are hitting the rotors. even if the pads look like they have 10mm of meat on them, doesn't necessarily mean that the tell- tails arent hitting yet. Either change them out, or snap the tell- tails off.... bearing in mind that you will have limited pads left over. Dont know if the ZX pads fall out when completely depleted or not (know Fiat ones do  ) or if they make a hell of a mess of the rotors
    instead.
    5. Front wheel bearings could need servicing.

Take the time to jack up the front of the car, drop the wheels and have a good look. Inspect rotors for grooves, pads, locate tell-tails and check for contact. Spin rotor and check for exact source of noise. Alternatively, take it to somewhere like "Munro Suspension Shop". Know they give free checkups.

Might have missed something, might be waay of course also. If in doubt, take it to a professional. Brakes arent something you want to be half arsed about :)

excellent, so for the whistle its just air passing the inner dust boot. might just get some Vaseline on it, to allow it to slip past. then again that may not work at all...not to worry.

the pin, in my terminology would be classified as the pivot pin. it holds the top of the pedal in place...most likely a more technical name but it works.

    thanks for your info.

not referring to the pin that the pedal itself rotates on, more the plunger that the pedal pushes into the Power Booster. I'm just a dumb sparky.... dont know all of the fancy words for it all

oh sorry, thought you were talking about the pin it rotates on.

i think you answered your own question though, its the plunger rod.

i think its too early in the morning for technicalities.

it came to me as i was plumbing in the dual vanity bowls in my bathroom. Must have been the fumes from the glue while cramped in the vanity, combined with the customary rum. Going all Space Cadet now... time to assume the fetal position and pass out.

i admire your efforts and substances used to expand your thinking power.

damn you buddy, you've given me the hunger to get myself a rum...damn drop bears.

why are you doing plumbing this early in the morning. lol.
