I recently got some slotted RDA rotors through a groupbuy (Thanks K-Zed!!) but I've run into a small problem. Upon refitting the calipers after I'd put the new rotors on, I noticed that the rotor was too thick for the caliper to fit on properly... it only JUST slides on, but once everything is fitted properly, it simply won't rotate any more. I had a quick word to Rob (K-Zed) who believes some early NA's had thinner rotors. I'm wondering if anyone knows what's going on here. Can anyone confirm Rob's beliefs? Are there any mods that I could do to allow the caliper to fit properly (doubtful)? Does anyone know any wreckers or shops in QLD who would be kind enough to do a straight swap of my calipers? Any info anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated and would help me heaps. Thanks in advance... :zlove:
Thinner Discs. K-zed is absolutely correct. Some early Z32's had thinner discs. This has been mentioned numerous times on this forum in the past (and I thought that it was mentioned at the time of the GB, although I could be mistaken.) Your only choice is to change the calipers (or the discs).
Re: Thinner Discs. im in the proces of buying new rotors also is their any way to find out if it came with 26mm or 30mm rotors?
Definitely true My NA has the smaller calipers and rotors...check the online manual for dimensions. And in my view, they are not necessarily unique to earlier models. My car is confirmed as a 92, but it has the smaller front calipers, as I found out after I bought new rotors. So either someone changed them (calipers and rotors) or that's the way it was made.
