Hey guys, I have done a fair bit of searching and reading up on brake pad upgrades. It would seem alot of people go with Bendix Ultimates. I also have RDA slotted rotors to go on the front. What are peoples opinions on brake pads for street use only, no track work. It's an 89 2+2 TT. Also, those of you who have already upgraded pads, any recomendations for a good outlet to get my hands on the Bendix Ultimates at a reasonable price. Cheers Guys Justin
Caz from www.cazracing.com.au is your gal.. i got my bendix from her. she gives great service, you can pm her at Caz1 cheers james
Ferodo's are another good option. I've been running them for a while now, and I've found them to be less 'dustier' than the ultimates
i have DBA slotted rotors on the front with bendix ultimates all around .. dusty but top pads .. have had occasion to stand bess on her nose a few times .. thank you mr bendix .... the ultimate !!! .. :zlove: :zlove:
and you can get them from mr super cheap auto now as well.. not sure if they have them in stock though
Definately caz is the girl, but be warned bendix are shocking for brake dust I drive up the road, and by the time i get back ,my chrome mags are covered in dust.Im going to try ferodo next as this dust is driving me mad :bash: :bash: :bash:
I put EBC green stuff pads on the front half a year ago with my new slotted rotors and they have been brilliant, not one squeak from them and they bite really nicely. They were a bit pricey, but considering they come with a breaking in compound on them and what appear to be better shims they are well worth it.
My Bendix Ultimates / slotted rotor combo is great but the dust and slight squeal will probably mean i'll try the Ferodos (or Brake Plus performance pads) next time.
If you dont mind cleaning your rims once a week then bendix ultimates are the pad for you and are at a good price... At times you will get a slight squeal with the ultimates but not all the time. If the pads are glazed you will get squeal all you need to do is rough up the pads again to remove the glazing and should be fine. You can go up in price and get EBC green stuff pads which are a good pad no dust but cost more then ultimates... At the end of the day depends how much your willing to spend on a set of pads... There is cheap pads that are cheap then there is pads that are cheap but do a good job...
Thanks alot for the responses guys. Just a quick one regarding the green stuff pads vs the bendix ultimates, what kind of price difference are we talking here? Caz doesn't seem to sell them either Also do you think it would be beneficial to upgrade the rear pads? Alot of people seem to be just going the fronts :zlove: Cheers Justin
yes she does sell brake pads justin http://www.cazracing.com.au/catalog/index.php?cPath=32&osCsid=d3ef4fe007aeb83f64fef08f20f6f009
Sorry, I didn't make my point very clear at all I saw the Bendix Pads there on caz's site, but no sign of the greenstuff pads. I was wondering if anyone has a good retailer who sells the greenstuff!!
Has anyone tryed these pads before ? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-skyli...7QQihZ015QQcategoryZ32063QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I didnt replace the rear pads as they had plenty of meat left on them. The rears are EBC street kevlar pads, I think they are called black pads now and are equivalent to the bendix ultimates in performance but produce less dust. When I was shopping for my pads I just got out the yellow pages and rang all the local brake shops for prices of EBC pads and went with the cheapest quote. The pads were about $180, pretty expensive compared to bendix ultimates, but they make hardly any dust along with the other stuff I mentioned earlier. If you get the greenstuff pads dont forget to get some brake shim compound also.
youll have to grease the anti squeal shims on any pad set up and retro, those pads must be for chinese horse and carts,i cant say ive ever heard of them
I've been thinking of getting a new set of pads for the front as I think it's almost time to replace them. Probably go for the EBC Green. Is it the Bendix Ultimates that are harsh on the rotors? Can't remember which pads were known to be harsh on rotors.
I have Bendix Ultimate all round in my Z... I can't see any damage to the rotors (grooves etc...). I recently had the Z out on the track, and was impressed with the way they pulled me up being an auto (I also have slotted rotors all round). Only down fall, they are very dusty... no matter how easy you apply them.
Yeah apparently it is the ultimates that chew the rotors, but i havent seen that and you know how hard i push it in the mountains Do yourself a favour sandeep ,if you are going to put shiny mags on,stay the hell away from bendix, unless you like brake dust i would never get them again
I've got mags but they're not chromed, they're more of a painted grey face with a polished lip. Not sure what my current pads are as they came with the car but they give off a little bit of dust but it's not too bad. The dust doesn't really bother me but if they're harsh on the rotors then I'll steer clear.
bendex ultimates are fine for daily driving, but if you like to go twisty's or plan on going to the track, stay away.. they fade like an old tired dogs mouth
