Do you targa top boys have a warning light for the boot ? As I set off for home tonight, I put some stuff in the boot, closed it, got into the car and drove off. I noticed a red warning light in the dash that looked like an open boot. (next to the '7' on the tacho) I stopped, checked the boot and it was shut. I tried to open it with the button in the glove box (only works when the ignition is on), no go. So the boot is closed. cannot be opened from the inside and a warning light is on. I though I'd sort it out when I got home, but half way home the light went off, and it all works again. The light does not come on if the boot isn't closed properly. Is this something for the convertible only, or does it happen on the roofed versions too ?
On mine (89 TT), if the rear door is not properly closed, the standard door light comes on (same light as the two other doors). And we have a cable release for the boot (on the floor enbetween the door and the seat)
I have figured it out. It is not a warning for the boot, but rather for the lid in front of the boot that covers the soft top. If this is not properly locked down, it will interfere with the boot. There is a latch and a switch on either side. Now if I could only figure out why there is not enough power goint to the lid to drive the 3 little motors that unlock the top and the lid.
