Hey guys just was driving my Zed n realised the my boost has dropped down all of sudden it used to hit around 14 15 for but now it only hitting 11 just wondering if anyone could help me out also if it help i have just installed a front mount as well but dont see y that should effect it unless one of the pipes were out but then there would be like no boost
Welcome to intercooler pressure loss... 2-3lbs drop isn't too bad. Double check the clamps etc anyway though, 1-1.5psi pressure drop is about normal.
If that were the case would you increase the boost acordingly to bring it back to the original setting?? or would the boost still be the same with a cooler?
Well no, you should have your pressure reading for the boost controller coming from the intake manifold (plenum), so if you have your boost set at 15psi, then install a massive, inefficient front mount, you'll still see 15psi at the manifold because your wastegates won't open till 15psi is reached at the manifold...make sense? The only time that you should see a pressure drop is if your one of those weird people who plumb their boost guage into the manifold and their boost controller into the turbo outlet. The only time that pressure losses from IC's make it to the manifold is when you have tired wastegate springs. If your using boost jets or a manual bleed valve, then your boost will fade away from peak. ie, peaks at 15psi at 3500rpm, likely down to 12psi at 7,000rpm.
