    Hi all,

I have decided to install boost jetts, passenger side is done without a problem thanks to tech section. But the drivers side the vacume line from the hardpipe that goes to throttle has been plugged and i dont no why?
Can anyone help, why would i only b running vacume lines from the passenger side? and if i run new vacume lines on the drivers side where does it go?

ok so im now pretty sure a prevoius owner has deleted something for some reason... the drivers side vacume line has been cut and blocked and the vacume line runs froim the passenger side through a t piece, around the back of the engine and dissapears down the drivers side of the engine...im guessing to the actuator? so i have insytalled a boost jet in the passenger side vacume line coming off the hard pipe. I have warmed up the engine and been for a test drive, all is working fine and boost is definetly more responsive!!

Usually thats done when you're running a boost controller and is exactly how I ran a mbc. This is not the case with boost jets tho.

    nope no boost controller...

I'd honestly invest in a good manual single level boost controller, like a Turbosmart. It'll be reliable and adjustable. Boost jets are primitive IMO.

    primative...in what way?

Quality manual boost controllers use ball/spring mechanism's to promote boost response and better/more steady control of boost pressures. And they can be found for <$150 for a quality unit.
Your level of modifications will most likely change over the ownership of your Z, you might be able to squeeze out another 2 psi after installation of larger intercoolers and a more free flowing exhaust for example. Being able to simply turn a screw, in comparison to having to install new boost jets to compensate is a lot less dicking around. :)

I'm not entirely sure what point ur trying to make I machined my boost jet for free! and I'll just keep making them smaller and smaller till I get the desired psi I'm after...what do u mean by ownership of my z?

He's saying that boost jets are a dodgy solution to up the boost. Also; he's saying during the course of your ownership of the car you will likely put many mods on it. Regarding the phrase "level of mods" I'm assuming he means that you will eventually be seeking out more quality solutions eg. where boost jets are a dodgy option an Electronic Boost Controller would be the 'quality' solution.

    All speculation though.

I wouldn't say dodgy they r a non mechanical piece of metal with no moving parts that r machined to b very accurate, but yes in the next few weeks there will b an electronic boost control put in. ;)
