Finally installed my bonnet struts and found passenger side one fouls battery surround and that corner of the bonnet lifts up when shut. The little tabs on the bonnet bracket are on the inside toward front of car, is this correct? I could only find some pics of them installed through google on a LHD and figured it should be fine. The brackets themselves were purchased through another forum member and should be correct.
Pics wouldn't really show the problem.

A few pics from the original For Sale By Business thread that may help - none (that I'm aware of) have reported any installation/fouling problems, though I don't think any have retained the battery surround box.

I just put my factory battery box on yesterday and hadn't had a chance yet to investigate. However I did immediately notice that following putting the box back on my battery, the hood no longer closed quite right on the passenger side.

Guess struts and factory battery box are not meant to mix which sucks a bit, the struts are great.

Edit: using the kit from ezzupturbo

Took a photo of my battery box, not sure if you can see but there is a small dent right in the center of the photo that has been formed by the strut.

When the hood is closed the passenger side appears as ZX301 describes. The corner lifting up almost as if spacers have been put in naturally this also messes with the seal against the windscreen cowl which means going through the pain of removing my battery again.

Yep the lugs are correct as the tabs sit at on the inside front as you indicated.

Reposition the battery and tray more to the left if you can. (towards engine)

I am using the ezupp struts and they clear the battery fine in mine

I am also using the largest battery possible for the Z

Looks like your battery terminal is cracked -it would be a good idea to replace it before it causes starting or charging problems or both.

SSuperZ battery tray won't move across further as that's where the locators and drain sit. However if I remove the cover over the battery there is just enough clearance. The strut fowls the cover by only milimeters. This is also with the largest battery I could get in the car. Had to trim tabs in the battery case to fit it in. I may be able to get it to clear if I trim the tabs of the battery tray too so that it sits closer to the surface of the tray.
Cheers for the advice rob, the battery is fine tho only a month old the bit you are seeing is the clamp. Which is not an issue the car is only temporarily hooked up like that as it's not actually been driven around properly yet. Roady and major service to do, got a 180amp alt going in at the same time and brand new upgraded power and ground wires are going in all over the bay.

Hope ZX301 can get his sorted too I'll post back if I can modify my tray and surround sufficiently to clear the struts. Otherwise sadly no factory box.

From memory I used a new tray to get it to move across (using the same drain hole), so if you "modify your tray and surround sufficiently to clear the struts " - you should have no problem

    Good luck

No problem and yes the part I am seeing is the terminal, specifically the negative battery terminal. That big crack in it is going to undo all of the good work you are doing with your upgraded wiring, and possibly lead to poor charging of the battery and/or poor starting of the vehicle due to voltage drop.

i didnt use a new tray at all and i had 3 sets of the ezzupturbo struts. No fouling issues at all. I also had a red top.

I don't know what I was thinking man I read terminal and thought of the battery post haha
Yeah there is a big crack in the terminal it is going with the wiring. The stock terminals wouldn't cater for 4awg or larger wiring required for the alt and the wiring for the amps.

    The OEM cables....

.....can handle around 600 amps inrush current & around 200 amps during engine cranking, so there is no need to "upgrade" the wiring to suit a 185 amp alternator. :)
Have you considered attaching the 4AWG wire for your sound system to the alternator?
A much better connection point than the battery terminal. :)
