When we first started bringing the TT in back in about

1995 or 6, we were getting up to $70K for them. Averaged around $50K to $60K. Granted, they were only a few years old then but can you imagine paying that now for a stock TT?

The new price for a top of the line Supra at that time was nearly the same.

    Don't even start on soarers...

The UZZ32 active V8 ones (top of the line.. I used to have one!) with the low-rider style hydraulics used to be over $180,000 in 1991... equate that to now days..

Maybe we could work the figure out in $AU...

Someone told me $120k? Not sure if this is correct though:zlove:

    Re: Hmmm

nah.. dont forget the exhorbiteant taxes aussies charge.. equate the percentage difference from the 2+2NA to the TT

TT Man 2+2 (what i have) 4.7 million yen
NA Man 2+2 (comparison) 3.8 million yen

    multiply 87000 aussie dollars by 1.24 (4.7/3.8)

almost $108,000 aussie dollars.. which is closer to what it would have been..

not bad seeing as i only paid 9 grand for mine 15 years later.. talk about depreciation..

    I wouldn't be surprised

if Nissan Australia did double that.

and on the flip side, the yanks get our Monaros for a lot less than we do.

That's cause they get more tanks to choose from over there -

so they have to be priced competitively...

Show me a Car in Australia that isn't 60% over priced

So the government can keep Ford and Holden afloat with their over priced lemons ???

Rx7 - $110,000 plus in australia when finally series 6 and 7 were sold here ? Yah what ???

    300Z - high 80's low 90's

Corvettes cost $29,000USD when i was in LA. Brand New.

H2 hummer's are 57,000 USD - Sorry how much in australia

A VL common'hore in 1988 was $12,000 with, well with nothing, no power anything, no a/c, base model
When i told Dad (who bought a VL in 88, and has had pretty much Fords ever since) that the Holden i wouldn't mind having was $57K as a base and with options it gets up around $65k and i just can't justify that price, he laughed and said i must be mistaken... $39,990 sounds like a common car/taxi price ??

Car market in australia is so heavily regulated and its only getting worse and worse and soon we'll all be forced to drive air powered bubble cars that don't go over 40km/h FOR OUR SAFETY

Dont forget the exchange rate back in 2000 was an average of 62.8 yen.>>

and not the 87 yen it is today, that works out then to be $76,500.00 + taxes & don't forget the luxary car tax which the ZX would have also incured.

I reckon that if Nissan Aust sold the 2000 model TT in Aust in 2000 then you would have been looking at atleast $120,000.00

    Cheers
    Andrew

    Egg ....

    Not only cheaper....

...but a better car then our local Monaros... more power, more options.
Also, Australia sells the Statesman to the United Arab Emirates for less then the local sticker price. They use em for taxis and police cars mostly.
