On the way to brisbane to get a zedcare no less. Now I know how fate feels :p. Anyway, called RACQ, they couldn't get it on the tow cause it was way too low, so mark helped me out by hooking me up with a guy that could get it on. (Thanks) I got it towed to gavin woods (where i saw the MRF14 car ) and found out they can't do autos :embarrassed:. So then had it towed to an auto place where it took about half an hour to get the Z back off the truck!
Now I'm weeping over mah baby wondering how much it will cost to fix.
Does anyone know approx how much $$$ this will end up?

suppose we will have to wait to find how much of the trans needs replacing or repairing to know the cost.

    bank on $1000+

Did you take it to Gerry?

He's a good mechanic and will advise viability of repair -v- 2nd hand.

Try and T up a 2nd hand box & consider having it modded + external cooler fitted.

    Having a run on auto's ATM... :(

When you say blew transmission Sam

are we talking bang, crunch, nasty metal sounding noises or was it just belts slipping and you had no drive?
If it was the former - best ask K-zed as he's been through this at Easter coming back from Goulburn. If it's the belts slipping it might just need a good overhaul. I hope for your sake it's the second scenario.

When you say blew transmission Sam

I was driving at 110, then the whole car jolted and made a big noise then doubled in revs. I pulled off the motorway, and when I acceled out of the roundabout it made awful crunching noise. :(

Re: Cliff, not all trans fluid is red ;)

When I blew the trans in the magna **cough**, I cracked the casing and spewed fluid over the exhaust manifold and the road.

That required a replacement gearbox, all up was $2000.

I was towing the caravan at the time.

I have since put a suplimental cooler in that car.

I also have one in the Zed, but I am yet to have it plumbed in. Waiting for the valve body mod, and will do it then.

    Depends on the damage

It could be as little of $1000. Mine cost me $3000 using a second hand planetary set. A new one would jave been a lot more. Sorry for the bad news. Hope it's a nimor repair.
    See Ya,
