Is there some trick to refilling the whole system once its been emptied? I am having trouble bleeding the clutch (dont laugh)....I fitted a new master, slave cylinder and goodridge braided clutch line. When the pedal is pumped 6 or so times there is still no pressure at the slave cylinder. i removing the bleed nipple and pumping it to c if any fluid would come out but nothing bit a very small dribble. I then tried "bench testing" the setup out of the car with no slave on the end of the line, fluid came out but only sometimes? i also checked the pedal arm was pushing out through the firewall, but once this happening i also noticed escaping air from the booster rod seal as the pedal is depressed? is this normal? any assistance/tips would be greatly appreicated... ryan
6 pumps will drain the master... Open the bleeders, fill the master, pump a couple of times, fill master, pump acouple of times keep doing that until fluid starts coming out. Jack the front of the car up, bleed from slave cylinder, then from near the headlight, then the slave and then the headlight. Should be good after that.
my original master cylinder had a bleed nipple on it, this one from czp doesnt...and due to running the braided line i now have only one bleed point... I wish it was that simple...When i pump, the master is not doing down in fluid level.... hmmm... has anyone had problems with new master cylinders?
There is so much air it that pipe that goes up towards the drivers side headlight that it's very hard to build up any pressure. Took me a couple of days to bleed mine after changing the master. But after you have fluid to the slave, you just need to persist.
It's tricky... By far the easiest way to bleed it properly is to do a vaccuum bleed. Using a compressor and a suction fitting over the nipple near the drivers side headlight. If you can't do a vaccume bleed, jack the front of the car up and pump, pump, pump.
Pretty sure only the N/A clutch masters have a bleed nipple at the master cylinder. Wasn't yours converted over from auto?
My NA has 3 points to bleed. When you open the bottom nipple with a full reservoir and pump the pedal what happens?
Best way I have found is to bleed the system from the slave cylinder. Remove the slave from the bell housing and pump the fluid through with your thumb while bleeding air/fluid from the slaves nipple. Once the majority of the air is gone you can put the slave cylinder back on and start bleeding from the top bleed point.
Your problem reminds me of something... ...I read in the Auto to Manual conversion Tech article. This is the quote
you are supposed to partially fill the master before you fit it. But you can still bleed it. The air will be in the upper line behind the head light. Suggest you finish bleeding there. It can take quite a while to get all that air out. Pump and then lift the pedal back if neccesary
It should be easier to bleed them dude. The stock ones take forever to bleed. Are you sure the fittings are all tight? Cheers
Have you tried to gravity bleed it? Ie no pumps just leave the m/cyl cap off and open the bleed nipple on the salve cyl...
