dont worry the warnings are still in the works for the ecutalk software - the consult lcd displays will hopefully have warnings in updated firmware by end of month, after that ill be working on update for the software to give it the same thing.

Thanks Pete! This is the only critical thing missing from the software! Bar graphs would also be great, but that's not critical (but it is my Knight Rider obsession kicking in!!!)

bar graphs would be easier once its .net cf 2.0. but going to that leaves behind ppc2000/2002 users (and requires wm2003 ones to install .net cf 2.0), so will try get a few things done before its switched

Thanks Col, that's very good stuff to know.
Well the PDA came in the other day (pretty darn quick from Hong Kong).
Iwas about to go to the ECUtalk site to start reading over what programs to download and what sizes they are but prior to that I have to download ActiveSync" onto my desktop computer first.
Do I go with the latest version of ActiveSync - 4.5) or am I supposed to go with another version? (My desktop uses Windows XP)
I've tried several times to download ActiveSync from the MS site but it gives me an error that "IE cannot display the webpage".
This is based on that I download all of the ECUtalk onto my desktop and then use the activesync program to link the desktop programs to my PDA, correct?

Kiz, I don't know what you did or how you did it and maybe I shouldn't ask because whatever it was, it worked!!!!
Thank you big time!!! I don't think the MS site likes me very much ...lol. A quick peek in you profile explains how and you were able to provide a working link.
I just quickly pluugged in my hotsink cradle USB into my desktop, and bang the two devices want to talk to each other.
It's asking me to either accept a "Standard Partnership" or a "Guest Partnership". Since I don't think I'll be sharing other than just a few programs (TomTom & ECUtalk) and data TomTom Maps) and not email or calendar items I think that perhaps "Guest Partnership" would be the better choice???
    What do you think?

whatever you like, both should allow u to do what you want, im pretty sure it tells you the difference between them when it asks which you want

Well I'll be damned, I got it to work. Now I have to do a few finishing touches.
Change the display from portrait to landscape.
Change the measurment scale from metric to standard/imperial.

    Standard.

Do a standard partnership. I think guest is when you have more than one PDA connecting.

You'll also need to download the .NET Compact Framework 2.0 for your PDA. It installs on your PDA.

You can get it from HERE.

    (It's a Microsoft website again :( )

You also need a version for your desktop in order for the two devices to talk to eachother, but since you're already talking I'm assuming you must have it installed. :)

    Hmm what else...

Oh, did you get your cables and stuff? Remember, you'll probably need a Null Modem Adpater to connect the two cables together...a standard male connector won't work...

    Cheers
    Rob.

Oh ya, Rob, got all of the cables. I verified that the blaZt cable does in fact have the power wire for the PDA. I also receieved the serial/RS232 PDA cable this week as well. I just plugged it into the Zed a few minutes ago and had 6 guages selected. Started the car and bam, instant monitoring.
The NET Compact Framework 2.0 is incorporated into Windows Mobile 2003 which is standard for the H4150.
Is there any way of converting/selecting non metric measurement for the gauges?

did you check the options? (and restart after changing it if it says restart required)

Couldn't find a spot where it refered to changing the dsplay.

Oooops, no, I didn't look to the ECUTalk program itself. I was looking to the iPAQ H4150 display features for the option.
OK, I'll give the ECUTalk a look in the morning. Will it save the landscape setting for the next time as well?

    Cheers,
    John

    Awesome...

Ok cool. Glad it's all working and you didn't have too many drama's. It's a pretty cool little thing to have hey.

In regards to the measurements, I'm sure there is an option in the ECUTalk program to switch between the two. Also, on the gauge select screen some of the gauges are doubled up. So with Engine temperature for example you have two gauges, one in Celcius and one in Farenheit.

Also, depending on what version of ECUTalk you downloaded, previous versions monitor some different things. So they have different gauges.

Col just helped me with the GPS stuff and now I've got the Tom Tom navigator on mine. Works well so far but I'm just waiting on the GPS receiver to arrive. It was quite easy actually...don't know why I didn't pursue it earlier. You motivated me to do it actually. So thanks for that... :D

I'm just thinking what else we can use the PDA for in regards to the car...there must be other programs out there for doing other things...

    Cheers
    Rob.
