Okay, so I'm pretty new to owning a zed, so i thought id take the chance to introduce my car properly, and share its development. I was told about this forum by another member who i got talking to where i work at Supercheap Auto, long before i was even looking for a zed. Unfortunately, i don't know his screen name. I bought this Manual TT 300zx shortly after my BMW E30 overheated and warped the head The E30 is now in storage awaiting a rebuild sometime in the future. Ill begin with what was on the car when i bought it. The car came with a full compliment of adjustable links and some nolathane poly bushes. Engine-wise, it came with the normal bolt-on mods. Turbosmart Dual Stage MBC (which wasn't connected properly) HKS SSQ Blow-off Valves, with a very interesting piping setup. ADRAD twin pass alloy radiator with a push thermofan. Big Intercooler Dual 3" mandrel bent exhaust. And as you can see here, the radiator pipes have been modified to fit the new radiator. And the Party Piece Two TD05H-16G turbos I feel that these are a bit laggy, but they do have potential for big power. Since I've owned the car i have done some work to the interior to bring it up to standard, however i'm still looking for some nice leather seats First thing to GO, was this big ass tacho that was bolted to the dash cover. Then filled the holes with these two Autometer gauges for oil pressure and boost. Will be looking for a dash pod in the near future. The car has this Apexi turbo timer, which isn't wired up, and I have no idea where the wires lead to, so i think that's a job for this week. The car came with these Sparco pedals, which i do like, but i like driving barefoot and damn these get HOT! One of the first things i did was install the roll bar that i bought off DJHZEX. The cage is a bolt in type, I had some plates drilled up for bolting under the car. The car also came with some nice Focal splits in the front doors. Also, what are the rear speakers supposed to be? Mine has some old Boston ones... I replaced the worn steering wheel with this sexy leather wheel from OMP. I wanted to continue the red stitching theme, so i replaced the gross gear and handbrake boots, as well as the armrest cover. My new gearknob arrived today Weighing in at just under 200 grams, it has a great feel for such a small knob Before.. After.. I'm waiting on an adjustable short shifter to be delivered, so that should bring the knob down a fair bit. More to come..... Adam
Nice work so far. Looks like the car has great potential. As for short shifters, I & many others don?t like them.
Looks like you bought a potential package there. Hope you got it for a nice price Good work ditching the monster tack and while you are at, ditch the turbo timer too. Nice job covering the centre console lid. Did you buy the material and fit it yourself or did you get a shop to do it?
Thanks man, yeah I did bought the leather off eBay and fitted them myself, pretty good result as for the turbo timer, I don't know if it can be removed without damaging the cluster. I might keep an eye out for a nismo one, are they worth it? Adam
Update Time My ShortShifter arrived from Hong Kong today Took me about an hour to install, was a bit of a pain. But wow it has gone from a limp stick, to a rock hard knob with a nice firm feel A massive difference, as my shift bushings were no-where to be seen... I thought it would sit a bit lower, but i guess this is better since it wont need the strength of a spartan warrior to change gears.. Also, you may have seen my old rims in the FOR SALE section. This is why.... 17x9, 17x9.5 +22 Perfect fitment Got myself a few stickers too, from MadCow design
with the gear stick boot, just grab the 2 tags that sit inside it and wrap them around the thread then place the gear knob on top of it, that way it will sit in nice and snug. looks really pov with the boot the way you have it.
I actually don't mind it, gives it an old school / race feel....but I would have to see it together with the rest of the interior to be 100% on that Nice looking Z from what I can see, would be good to see some day time shots as the rims don't look that good when you can't see the car that those type of rims normally go really good with Cheers, Craig
I love your work dude. that's some freakin' taste right there. <3 modenas. but you've got the adjustable arms... got coilovers? needs moar low! pm me hi-res?
Hey man, sorry to disappoint, but haven't done anything for the past few weeks. Just came back from a holiday in Bali, so the wallet is still recovering A tune is not to far away though.... And also keeping an eye out for some decent coil-overs. Adam P.S, when is there going to be another sydney meet? is it usually this quiet?
Car looks shmiko mate! love all the mods so far, i can see you have good taste All the best with your Z
